The University is offering three wolfson postgraduate scholarships
for PhD students to applying for entry in autumn 2014 in the areas of
History, Literature and Languages. UK and international students can
apply for these scholarships. Applicant must have a first or upper
second class honours degree or equivalent prior to commencing the PhD.
Each scholarship includes a stipend of £17,000 per year for up to three
years of PhD study. Wolfson scholarships will be awarded solely on
academic merit. The application deadline is 3rd February 2014.

The Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships fund doctoral research in three disciplines that align closely with the Foundation’s interests: History, Literature and Languages. York has been awarded the scholarships due to its excellent track record and its commitment to humanities research. The Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities will be awarded to outstanding students who demonstrate the potential to make an impact on their chosen field. Eligibility: In order to be eligible you must:
-Have applied for and be receipt an offer for a place on a full time PhD programme in the relevant department;
-Expect to begin your full time PhD studies on 1 October 2014 (deferrals are not permitted);
-Have a first or upper second class honours degree or equivalent prior to commencing the PhD;
-Have completed a masters level qualification before commencing the PhD.

Duration: Scholarships will be offered for up to three years.
Value: Each scholarship offers a stipend of £17,000 per year for up to three years of PhD study and also includes:
