About the role
The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy Secretariat in Brussels is looking for an Intern (full-time/38 hours per week).
The position will be located at the Global Covenant of Mayors office in Brussels.
The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy is an international coalition of cities and local governments with a shared long-term vision of promoting and supporting voluntary action to combat climate change and move to a low emission, resilient society.

Duties and responsibilities
The role of the communications team is to act as a centre of expertise on energy and climate change communications. Its objective is to help create political, media and public endorsement for strong action to address climate change at international, national and sector levels.
The intern will gain practical experience in the workings of an international non-governmental organization focused on cities and climate change. The intern will gain exposure across a broad range of functional areas - including program management, stakeholder engagement, operations, grants management, planning and communications - within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities may include:
Supporting the team in preparation for regular meetings of the Board, Founders Council and Technical Working Groups;
Assisting in the preparation of presentations for external stakeholders;
Developing and implementing communication strategies in cooperation with the communications unit;
Planning and supporting campaigns in close co-operation with our grantees;
Analysing media reporting on energy and climate policy, including a daily media coverage brief;
Preparation of events, general editorial and administrative support for the communications unit.
Key competensies
The ideal candidate will have:
Strong commitment to working with cities and climate change – previous internship experience in both areas preferred;
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills;
Ability to manage multiple projects, and comply with deadlines Professional junior working experience in PR or journalism;
A university degree in a relevant field;
Enthusiasm for learning and a demeanor suitable for a small office work environment;
Ability to work independently as well as with colleagues.

Marine Litter Internship

Seas At Risk (SAR) is an umbrella organisation of environmental NGOs from across Europe that promotes ambitious policies for marine protection at European and international level. We represent 35 member organisations in 17 different European countries. We are a diverse team of 9 staff who share a passion for the sea. We are currently working on issues such as fisheries, aquaculture, greenhouse gas emissions from shipping, marine litter and EU-level marine environment policies. The issue of waste and marine litter is currently a hot topic at national, EU and international level, with multiple policy processes ongoing in an effort to tackle it. Seas At Risk is looking to launch an internship to support its policy work on marine litter, including the following tasks:
Supporting the organisation’s policy work on marine litter; i.e. researching particular topics, development of fact sheets and briefings;
Supporting the marine policy officer in networking and advocacy activities with policy makers and key stakeholders;
Taking ownership of a discreet targeted campaign, preparing a strategy, arranging meetings and taking forward action points, with the advice and supervision of the marine litter policy officer;
Supporting communication activities around the topic, i.e. writing of articles, social media posts and preparation of publications;
Support for event organisation, at least one conference on the topic will be organised during the internship period.
Duration: 6 months
Envisaged starting date: 1st December 2017 (depending on availability).
Requirements:
A university degree marine sciences, or other relevant field;
Good understanding of the issue of marine litter;
Good analytical, writing and communication skills;
Knowledge of the EU institutions would be an asset;
Experience with social media campaigning would be an asset;
Fluency in English (spoken and written) is a must, additional language skills are a plus;
A passion for oceans and the EU.

Description
The Internship Programme of German Business for the Countries of the Western Balkans offers young graduates and students from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia the possibility of a three to six-month-long internship at leading German companies.
The idea of the Internship Programme of German Business is to bridge the ever-present gap between academic and business world by enabling students and young graduates an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge gained at universities and to successfully access the next stage of their professional path.
The Programme provides high-quality, carefully designed and mentored placements in companies throughout Germany, which will enable young professionals to apply and test their specialized academic knowledge, whilst gaining an insight into modern working environments and business practices.
Call for application is open from 1st October until 13th November 2017 for internships which start in July 2018.
Eligibility
Undergraduate students who are enrolled in the 5th semester or higher when applying, Master or PhD students and young graduates who graduated after January 1st, 2017 are eligible to apply.
Their field of studies should have a focus on economics, business administration, various fields of engineering, journalism or agriculture.
The applicants should generally not be older than 29 years.
A very good command of English is required. German is an asset.
Applicants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia who study or have completed their studies in one of these countries are eligible to apply. Not eligible to apply are candidates who are enrolled as regular students at universities outside these countries and those who have already completed BA or MA studies outside the region.

The participating German companies provide the internship places, the associated management capacities and cover the costs of accommodation and health insurances for the interns or provide an internship wage.
Covered by the Programme:
Costs of accommodation and health insurance: Companies either cover the costs directly or pay a sufficient monthly allowance to the interns. The costs vary depending on the city.
Monthly scholarships of 550 EUR: The scholarships are sufficient to cover all remaining living expenses during the stay in Germany.

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for International Student 2018–2019

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).
The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.
Types of scholarship
The research scholarship is available to post-graduate researchers in any discipline (who hold a master’s degree as a minimum) who are planning to come to Switzerland to pursue research or further studies at doctoral or post-doctoral level.
Research scholarships are awarded for research or study at all Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences and the two federal institutes of technology. Only candidates nominated by an academic mentor at one of these higher education institutions will be considered.
Art scholarships are open to art students wishing to pursue an initial master’s degree in Switzerland.
Art scholarships are awarded for study at any Swiss conservatory or university of the arts. Only those who have already been awarded a place to study may apply. This scholarship is available to students from a limited number of countries only.

The Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education (NUFFIC) offers fellowships to participate in training courses in The Netherlands. NUFFIC offers StuNed, NFP and MSP (MENA) Fellowships. These fellowships seek to develop and strengthen the skills, instincts, and abilities of professionals to enable their organisations and communities to succeed in an ever-changing world. This is initiated and (almost) fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Eligibility
For NFP Scholarships there is no age limit. In order to qualify, you must meet the following selection criteria:
National of, and working and living in the listed NFP country;
Not employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff development, for example:
Multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft),
Large national and/or large commercial organisations,
Bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida,
Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid),

Junior Fellows Internship at United Nations University

The United Nations University Office of the Rector recruits highly qualified applicants to work as Junior Fellows at the UNU headquarters in Tokyo. Junior Fellows are recruited through a competitive application process twice per year. Graduate students interested in the work of the United Nations — and in particular, UNU — are encouraged to apply.
The underlying principles of the Junior Fellows Internship Programme at the Office of the Rector are centred on creating a dynamic, challenging and rewarding experience for graduate level students and young professionals. Successful candidates will contribute to the work of the Office of the Rector, the United Nations University, and the UN system as a whole. The programme provides opportunities for the development of new skills and knowledge and is a unique and constructive setting for the practical application of capacities acquired through graduate studies.
The programme places a strong emphasis on the training, guidance, and hands-on experience that form the foundation of a successful and beneficial internship. The programme opens with a one-week orientation designed to familiarize junior fellows with UNU, their co-workers, facilities and the working processes within the Office of the Rector. The knowledge and practical experience gained will also be beneficial to those candidates seeking a career in the United Nations. Junior fellows at the Office of the Rector can expect to gain valuable work experience while contributing in meaningful ways to UNU’s mission.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Junior Fellows Internship Programme at the Office of the Rector is:
to promote interaction and dialogue between young scholars, professionals and UNU;
to familiarize junior fellows with the activities of the Office of the Rector and the work of UNU;
to provide opportunities for young professionals to gain in-depth, hands-on experience in a UN agency;
to expose young professionals to an administrative working environment, and;
to provide support to activities within the Office of the Rector.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Running parallel to most university semesters, Junior Fellows are selected twice per year, once in May-June for the fall term and once in September-October for the spring term. The fall term begins in mid-August and lasts until mid-December. Starting 2016, the spring term will run from mid-January to the end of June. Junior Fellows work full time during the regular working hours of the University: 9:30–17:30, Monday to Friday. Weekends and official UNU holidays are days off. In addition, Junior Fellows are entitled to 1 day of leave per month. Junior Fellows are provided office space and facilities, as appropriate for their work, and are provided a monthly stipend in addition to a fixed transportation allowance for their commute to and from the UNU headquarters building. Junior Fellows also enjoy free access to the headquarters’ library and gym and have the unique opportunity to learn about, contribute to and provide assistance in the organization of conferences, lectures and academic forums and symposiums that take place throughout the year.

Intern Saab EU Affairs & NATO Office

The Saab EU Affairs & NATO Office is looking for an intern for a period of six months during spring 2018. The position will provide the successful candidate with an interesting work environment as well as with the opportunity to work in a leading company developing cutting-edge technologies for the EU and global market.
Responsibilities
Research and analysis support;
Monitoring and reporting on EU legislative and policy developments in the fields of defence, security, aeronautics and space;
Following meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences on behalf of Saab’s Brussels Office and reporting back to our Head of Office;
Closely following the work of the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council and the European Defence Agency;
Drafting and editing our quarterly newsletter;
Office management (administration, meeting preparations, office supplies etc.).
Qualifications
University degree within relevant field (social sciences, law, economics, or business administration);
Specialisation or postgraduate diploma with relevance to the EU institutional environment;
Professional fluency in one of the Nordic languages;
Fluent English (speaking, writing);
Excellent social skills in order to interact and engage with colleagues and external stakeholders;
Eye for detail, organisational skills and ability to deliver under time pressure.
Preferred profile
Completion of a traineeship (‘stage’) within the European Institutions;
Previous experience from working with issues of relevance to defence or security policy;
Fluency in French.


Internship Dods EU Monitoring

Job details:
Dods EU Monitoring is the leading provider of fast and accurate information about developments in EU affairs. We provide tailored political intelligence and analysis to the EU public affairs community.
Dods is looking for an Intern to support its EU monitoring team in Brussels for approximatively five months. The role would suit a recent graduate in European studies and with a very good command of English language. The internship is paid and will last 5 months.
Role will involve:
Preparing and editing agendas;
Supporting consultants in their daily monitoring tasks including research for clients;
Writing reports in English on the basis of parliamentary committee meetings/plenary debates and press conferences.
Requirements:
Very good command of English language;
EU studies, good knowledge of EU legislative procedures;
Reliable, good team player;
Understanding EU agriculture and/or EU fisheries policies would be an asset.
