This internship position is to be filled as of the week of February
24, 2014, full time, 6 months, with the possibility of an extension.
1. Intern Profile
The Chamber is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, with a background in or studying events planning, marketing, communications, Business/Economics or a related field to join our team. Requirements include English as mother tongue (French and/or Dutch is considered a definite advantage); familiarity with MS Office applications (other IT skills are considered an advantage), the ability to work independently and with others, a high degree of organizational skills, accuracy and creativity, and a strong sense of responsibility is a must. A good ability to network is an added benefit.
As part of the AmCham team, you will aim to provide AmCham Belgium members with high-quality, professional service. You should be aware that your duties will also involve basic administrative tasks such as answering member requests by e-mail and telephone or researching information for members. You will also be expected to maintain our member database. Your ideas and suggestions for improving projects and services will be welcomed and you will be encouraged to actively participate in staff meetings.
In return, AmCham Belgium offers a monthly stipend, many valuable networking opportunities at events - some of which take place in the evening - exposure to a variety of industry sectors, and a dynamic working environment.
2. Job description
The major duties involve:
1. Events
You will assist the Events Manager in all aspects of event organization and follow-up;
2. Event E-Mailing Marketing Campaigns
You will create and send invitations and weekly event updates to filtered lists of contacts from our member database using our email marketing service, and liaise with the email marketing provider as necessary,
3. Event Marketing Material
You will draft marketing material for the events, emails, texts for the website and more. You will post announcements about our events on partner websites and track them with Google Analytics.
4. On-Site Event Management
You will be asked to attend some events, help with set-up and break down, on occasion take photos, and liaise with venue staff to keep things running smoothly.
5. Event follow-up
You will create and send surveys to event participants, input data, and analyze Net Promoter Score results producing reports for the team. You will post a selection of pictures on our Facebook page following events.
6. In addition to these fixed ongoing projects, a number of diverse tasks may be assigned depending on the intern’s abilities and priorities in the office. The Events and Marketing Intern may be asked to give whatever help needed at times of pressure.
7. You will report to the Events Manager, who is charged with the daily management of the Events and Marketing intern, and the Policy, Finance & Administration Director, who has overall management responsibility.
8. Special Circumstances: When necessary, willingness to be available for some events outside office hours.
