Events and Marketing Intern American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium

This internship position is to be filled as of the week of February 24, 2014, full time, 6 months, with the possibility of an extension.
1. Intern Profile
The Chamber is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, with a background in or studying events planning, marketing, communications, Business/Economics or a related field to join our team. Requirements include English as mother tongue (French and/or Dutch is considered a definite advantage); familiarity with MS Office applications (other IT skills are considered an advantage), the ability to work independently and with others, a high degree of organizational skills, accuracy and creativity, and a strong sense of responsibility is a must. A good ability to network is an added benefit.

As part of the AmCham team, you will aim to provide AmCham Belgium members with high-quality, professional service. You should be aware that your duties will also involve basic administrative tasks such as answering member requests by e-mail and telephone or researching information for members. You will also be expected to maintain our member database. Your ideas and suggestions for improving projects and services will be welcomed and you will be encouraged to actively participate in staff meetings.
In return, AmCham Belgium offers a monthly stipend, many valuable networking opportunities at events - some of which take place in the evening - exposure to a variety of industry sectors, and a dynamic working environment.

2. Job description
The major duties involve:
1. Events
You will assist the Events Manager in all aspects of event organization and follow-up;
2. Event E-Mailing Marketing Campaigns
You will create and send invitations and weekly event updates to filtered lists of contacts from our member database using our email marketing service, and liaise with the email marketing provider as necessary,
3. Event Marketing Material
You will draft marketing material for the events, emails, texts for the website and more. You will post announcements about our events on partner websites and track them with Google Analytics.
4. On-Site Event Management
You will be asked to attend some events, help with set-up and break down, on occasion take photos, and liaise with venue staff to keep things running smoothly.
5. Event follow-up
You will create and send surveys to event participants, input data, and analyze Net Promoter Score results producing reports for the team. You will post a selection of pictures on our Facebook page following events.
6. In addition to these fixed ongoing projects, a number of diverse tasks may be assigned depending on the intern’s abilities and priorities in the office. The Events and Marketing Intern may be asked to give whatever help needed at times of pressure.
7. You will report to the Events Manager, who is charged with the daily management of the Events and Marketing intern, and the Policy, Finance & Administration Director, who has overall management responsibility.
8. Special Circumstances: When necessary, willingness to be available for some events outside office hours.

2014 School of Arts Anniversary Scholarships for Postgraduate Research in UK

Birkbeck School of Arts will award up to 17 fully funded Postgraduate Research Scholarships. Anniversary scholarships are open to Home/EU and International students who are applying for a full-time MPhil/PhD place within the School of Arts, starting in the 2014/15 academic year. The Anniversary Scholarship awards will include a full fee waiver capped at the value of the full-time Home/EU rate for MPhil/PhD degrees (currently £3,900), in addition to an annual stipend set at Research Council rates. The application deadline is 17th February 2014.

International Research Scholarships at Brighton University - UK

The University of Brighton annually invites international students to apply a scholarship for research program at the university. The research area could be all disciplines which is offered by the university. To be considered, you must be a new full-time international research student and must have applied to join a research programme at the University of Brighton and been offered a place for 2014 entry. This research scholarship award is available on annual basis.

Program Description

The University of Brighton international research scholarships will provide a reduction of 50 per cent off the cost of your tuition fees for your research programme (for up to a maximum of 3 years) are available to outstanding international research students in all areas of study.

The Future Media Lab. is a think tank initiative hosted by the European Magazine Media Association (EMMA). The Future Media Lab. operates at the interface of media innovation and public policy. It is therefore run by the Brussels based EMMA Secretariat.
The aim of the Future Media Lab. is to bridge the gap between fast-paced innovations in the media sector and the long-lasting legislative process at EU level by anticipating the future media landscape. How do we do this? By initiating knowledge sharing in innovative formats (i.e. conference on “understanding disruptions”), driving focus topics (i.e. funding journalism) and running workshops (i.e. crowdfunding for media companies). www.futuremedialab.info
EMMA is a non-profit organization representing over 15.000 magazine publishers throughout Europe publishing over 50.000 titles in Europe, reaching on average 80% of European adults. 300 million Europeans read magazines on a regular, consistent basis. EMMA is offering an unpaid, full-time internship at the Secretariat’s offices in Brussels for 3-6 months (a small allowance for transport and food will be paid). This internship will be of benefit particularly for anyone who seeks professional experience related to communication in a European think tank initiative at the interface of media innovation and public policy.
Duties:
The internship offers the possibility to learn about the work of the Future Media Lab., especially its advocacy and communication actions in Brussels.
It consists of support and assistance in the following areas:
  • Supporting the organization of Future Media Lab events (conferences, workshops, etc.)
  • Supporting the Future Media Lab.’s administration and organisational work, such as event registration, database management, etc.
  • Updating and developing the Future Media Lab. website and other media tools such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook
  • Expanding the Future Media Lab.’s sponsors relations
  • Support of the Communication Officer in developing and implementing new communication activities and projects
Qualifications:
  • Candidates should have excellent English language skills and very good written and verbal communication skills; the knowledge of one other EU language would be an asset
  • Experienced user of Adobe InDesign, knowledge of Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Knowledgeable in HTML and WordPress websites
  • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database)
  • The candidate should be self-motivated, well organized, and able to work efficiently and autonomously
  • The person should be an excellent team-player and be interested in media innovation, EU policy and should enjoy thinking “outside the box”

ESMOD Berlin is calling for applications for the Kärcher scholarship to attend the Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and Pattern Making/Draping commencing in September 2014. Kärcher supports the Bachelor program for the first time by financing a scholarship of one outstanding applicant for his or her first academic year at ESMOD Berlin in German or English language.
How to apply
Applications are sought from candidates from any country, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements of the Bachelor programme and follow the application procedure outlined below for a place within the course.
The winning applicant should be aware that they need to be able to meet the remaining financial requirements to support their studies through the one year programme including living costs, relocation costs and course related material costs.
