Onshore Wind Communications Coordinator Internship RenewableUK

THE ORGANISATION
RenewableUK is the UK’s leading renewable energy trade association, specialising in onshore wind, offshore wind and wave and tidal energy. Formed in 1978, we have an established, large corporate membership ranging from small independent companies, to large international corporations and manufacturers.
Acting as a central point of information and a united representative voice for our membership, we conduct research; find solutions, organise events, facilitate business development, advocate and promote wind and marine renewables to government, industry, the media and the public.
THE ROLE
Got an eye for a good story?
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate a workstream to identify and promote the local benefits arising from onshore wind electricity generation. Primarily this will be achieved by tracking construction activity across UK wind farms and identifying interesting and engaging stories which may be of interest to the media, politicians and the public. You will also support member companies and the wider supply chain to maximise media and political engagement opportunities arising from individual construction projects.
THE PERSON
With experience of managing a project which you kept on track and delivered on time, you will have excellent communication skills, political sensitivity and the ability to identify what would make a good story. Key to your success in this role will be your ability to establish rapport primarily over the phone with individuals in member companies and develop good working relationships.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone seeking to establish a career in communications, public affairs or policy. You will receive on the job training and support from our policy and external affairs staff and join our committed and close-knit friendly team. Knowledge of the renewable sector is not essential; although this role provides a fantastic opportunity to learn more about this industry and meet many of the key players in it.
Interview/Start Dates: Interviews are likely to take place on Friday 18th July for an immediate start.
How to apply: To apply for this position, please review the job description www.renewableuk.com/en/about-renewableuk/work-for-renewableuk/index.cfm and then email us your CV along with a covering letter setting out why you want this internship and how you meet the requirements for the position to recruitment@renewableuk.com
