Internship Opportunity
The Madariaga - College of Europe Foundation works to encourage citizens’ ownership of the European political project. Through research and action, the Foundation promotes in-depth reflection on the role of the European Union in an era of global change, engaging citizens, policy makers and international partners in a frank debate on the issues that shape Europe’s future. The Foundation’s doctrine is best expressed through its Citizen’s Controversies, which provide a way of deciphering Europe’s internal and external orientations through the confrontation of multiple points of views.
The Madariaga – College of Europe Foundation is looking to recruit an English mother tongue Editorial Assistant (internship position) to assist the team in the production of reports, and to contribute to the translation and editing of the Foundation’s articles, papers and other written material.
Key responsibilities:
- Drafting of the Foundation’s events’ reports (of “Citizen’s Controversies”, seminars and conferences), in English; (40%)
- Editing of the Foundation’s written material (articles, speeches, reports, project proposals, invitations) in English; (15%)
- Translation of articles from French to English (5%)
- Assisting in the organisation and implementation of events: phone calls with the speakers, invitations’ feedbacks, etc.; (20%)
- Assisting the University course of the Executive Director (contacts with students, occasional one-day trips to Paris) (20%)

Person Specification:
- English mother tongue with excellent writing skills;
- Fluency in French;
- BA level studies in Communications, Journalism, Social/ Political Sciences or Translation/ Interpretation;
- Interest in European and international affairs;
- Communication skills;
- Open-minded, able to work in a team as well as individually.

Terms of Appointment:
This vacancy concerns a 5-months full-time internship contract under the Belgian “Convention d’Immersion professionnelle”.
Starting date: 17 March 2014
Remuneration: 750€ net per month
