Position and responsibilities

Reports to:    Director, SEEK Development
Location:        Berlin, Germany

The Consultant works on a range of client engagements and contributes to the strategic, organizational and business development of our growing team.

Key responsibilities include:
·        Leading SEEK’s strategic support to a major client
Advising the client on a range of strategic and policy issues with regard to global development issues, including health and rural development
Supporting the client’s  strategic collaboration and act as a liaison with German development institutions, including key decision-makers and influencers
Providing strategic insights, advice and information on German political developments and opportunities/threats
Preparing briefings, strategy papers and updates
·        Managing work streams on other client projects
o  Leveraging strong analytical and problem-solving skills to contribute to hypothesis generation
o  Conducting research, analysis and synthesis work for assigned work streams
o  Contributing to the preparation of interim and final client documents/reports and
presentations, with responsibility for drafting entire sections of the deliverables
o  Taking responsibility for aspects of client and project management
·        Actively contributing to business development and strategic planning
o  Working closely with other team members to proactively identify areas of opportunity,
leveraging own networks and building on areas of expertise and interest
o  Actively contributing to client relationship building and proposal writing
Contributing to SEEK’s internal strategic planning and organizational development
·        Taking responsibility for other tasks as required

Requirements
·        Advanced degree in business/economics, social sciences, public health or a related field
·        Minimum of three years of relevant international work experience related to global development; background in management consulting and in program/organizational evaluation is a plus
·        Strong networks within German government and/or parliament;  excellent understanding of actors and decision-making processes relating to global development and
health
·        Exceptional diplomatic and interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships quickly
·        Excellent writing, research and analytic skills, including quantitative data analysis
·        Ability to think strategically and problem-solve in a fast-paced, multicultural environment 
·        Ability to self-manage: working independently on complex projects and proactively managing areas of responsibility with minimal supervision
·        Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare compelling presentations; oral and written fluency in English and German
·        Ability to multi-task and to be effective in high-pressure situations
