and independent. For our 30-strong Brussels team we are seeking a
trainee who will support the work of our Public Affairs team.
The ideal candidate is a quick learner with experience in EU affairs and policy work, with excellent communication and writing skills, who enjoys working in a dynamic and challenging environment. The trainee will have an opportunity to develop and gain experience in public affairs work as part of a multi-cultural, motivated and growing team.
Job responsibilities
The precise nature of activities will depend on the priorities and client work during the time of the placement. However, the responsibilities and tasks are likely to include the following:
- Assistance with daily tasks of the Public Affairs team on various client accounts as required;
- Growing into selected client accounts and executing PA and media strategies;
- Delivering thorough policy and press monitoring on issues of interest;
- Contributing to research and analysis on various policy issues, reporting of relevant developments, drafting briefings, reports, updates and other forms of communication as necessary;
- Preparation of materials for meetings, events or other client/stakeholder engagement activities;
- Support, as necessary, of the organisation of events at The Centre, our platform for debate.
Qualifications and skills
- University degree in political science, communications, international relations, law or other relevant field;
- Good knowledge of EU policies and decision making processes gained from prior experience working in a consultancy, the institutions, private sector or other EU-related environment;
- Excellent analytical and written skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - a positive approach with a self-learning attitude;
- Ability to work under pressure and on multiple assignments;
- Ability to work effectively in a varied environment and within small dynamic teams;
- Excellent oral and written communication in English;
- Very good computer skills and use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
