The United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY – pronounced ‘You
Know Why’) is a global network of young people and youth organisations
committed to establishing peaceful societies. Young people constitute
half of the world’s population, and we strongly believe in their
importance in society. It is why we aim to provide youth with the
necessary means to contribute to peace.

Profile of the candidate
- Age below 30.
knowledge
- Relevant academic background (MA/MSc) in social, cultural, political sciences and fields related to Peacebuilding and Conflict transformation theory and practice and International Development.
- Profound knowledge of the role of youth in peacebuilding.
experience
- Experience in programme and project management, including planning, monitoring and evaluation.
- Proven working experience in coordinating youth programs, organisations or networks (proposal development, implementation of projects, fundraising, reporting etc).
- Relevant experience in NGO settings.
- Experience in giving trainings, preferably using non-formal education methods.
- Proven experience in mentoring and on-the-job-supporting of project staff, volunteers and interns.

- Excellent (proposal) writing skills.
- Ability to support partners and maintain productive long-distance relationships.
- Working language proficiency in English. Dutch, French and/or Spanish is an asset.

Salary
1 fte Gross Salary: € 1600 – 1850 monthly (approximately) depending on education and experience. UNOY Peacebuilders covers a simple lunch and work related travel expenses within The NetherlandsWe offer

Purpose of the position
- Implement and monitor, jointly with the International Secretariat and Outreach Coordinator, the UNOY Peacebuilders 2011 – 2015 strategic framework.
- Secure funding for the implementation of the UNOY Peacebuilders strategic framework.
- Ensure the effective functioning of the UNOY Peacebuilders network.
- Realize the effective development, implementation and evaluation of UNOY Peacebuilders’ programmes
Position in the organisation
- The ‘International Network & Programme Coordinator’ (INPC) makes up the Management Team together with the ‘International Secretariat and Outreach Coordinator’ (ISOC). The two coordinators will share the leadership over the organisation.
- The Management Team is accountable to the Board, through a quarterly reporting process.
- The Management Team may solicit advice and support from the International Steering Group and the Board
- The INPC has direct supervision of a number of interns working at the office on respective projects and ensures the monitoring and appraisal of their development and performance. Additionally the INPC coordinates the project leaders hired on freelance basis to implement projects and monitors their outputs.
Result areas
unoy network development:
- Further develop the network, enabling active participation of member organisations towards realizing the Strategic Plan 2011-2015 of UNOY Peacebuilders. Monitor and evaluate the network developments.
- Ensure effective cooperation and communication between members of UNOY Peacebuilders, and the International Steering Group.
- Coordinate the yearly meeting of the International Steering Group members. Ensure member organisations are represented in the International Steering Group and support the coordination of the work of the International Steering Group.
- Coordinate administration of member organisations participation in the network, membership calls etc.
advocacy programme:
- Develop and implement, an advocacy strategy based on the Strategic Plans 2011 – 2015 of UNOY Peacebuilders with the International Steering Group and ensuring support from member organisations.
- Ensure the voice of member organisations of UNOY Peacebuilders is heard at relevant events and advocacy opportunities.
- Coordinate the build up of the capacity of member organisation to represent the network and its core messages.
fundraising:
- Fundraise for projects from local, European and international donors (with support from the ISOC).
programme development:
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of capacity building programmes for the member organisations aimed to realise the Strategic Plan 2011-2015 of UNOY Peacebuilders. Present focus includes Gender mainstreaming, Advocacy and Conflict analyses & peaceful interventions.
- Coordinate hiring of project leaders (freelance) for the implementation of projects and monitor their output.
additional duties:
- Undertake necessary administrative duties for the effective implementation of the work of UNOY Peacebuilders.
- Supervise and train, on occasion and together with other staff members, the interns of UNOY, i.e. the interns allocated to the projects described above.
