Description

This training course will encourage the development of a critical, democratic and European Citizenship and in doing so, supporting youth worker in the implementation of youth projects with a European Citizenship dimension.The training course on European Citizenship aims to support the professional development of youth workers and youth leaders by extending their critical understanding of European Citizenship, exploring and experiencing its potential and by enabling them to recognise and integrate European Citizenship in their youth work.

Objectives

The training course puts into practice priority 1 (European Citizenship) of the Youth in Action programme, by aiming to:
  • To critically explore the meaning, relevance and implications of European citizenship in youth work in all its dimensions
  • To promote and facilitate the active use of programmes and structures in support of youth work on European Citizenship, including Youth in Action
  • To experiment and explore the potential of European Citizenship for active democratic change in society;
  • To associate the participants with the current discourse on European Citizenship (its concepts, formal meanings and expressions)
  • To exemplify the connection between European Citizenship, Human Rights, Democracy and ICL and the underlying values.

Eligibility

This training course is eligible for 25 participants from Austria, Belgium – FL, Easter Europe and Caucasus, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Romania, South-East Europe, Spain, Turkey and United Kingdom. Training is recommended for Youth workers, Youth leaders and Project managers. The working language is English, good command of English therefore is a must.

Costs

This project is financed by the Youth in Action Programme. Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to participation in the course will be covered by the National Agencies (NA) or SALTO involved in this project – except a participation fee which varies from call to call and country to country. Please contact your NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses. If you come from a country other than Programme Countries, please contact the host NA for further information about the financial details. The list of the National agencies can be found here.

Before applying please contact the NA of your residence country to check if it is involved in this concrete project and committed to cover travel costs. NB! Learn about possible participation fee and other relevant rules.
