Events & Communications Intern

As a partner organisation of Sustainable Energy For All (SE4ALL), the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) is the only business association in the world focusing the development of off-grid renewable energy solutions for rural electrification in developing countries and emerging markets. We build on the experience from over 75 member organisations worldwide which represent the complete value chain of renewable energy technologies.
As a global business matchmaking platform, an essential part of ARE’s mission is to develop technological, political and financial recommendations and to bridge the gap between private and public sector organisations, in order to further stimulate the development of an enabling investment and working environment. ARE supports business development through sharing of best practices, market and procurement research as well as match-making through activities and events in close collaboration with the public and private sector.
The Alliance is seeking to recruit an ‘Events & Communications Intern’ from March 2015 (full-time; 3-6 months) to assist with the following tasks:
Key tasks:
  • Online market research and screening procurement schemes;
  • Meeting and event support;
  • Project assistance;
  • Preparing position papers and publications;
  • Coordinating and providing feedback to requests from members and partners for specific renewable energy technologies and regions;
  • Maintenance of information databases;
Qualifications and skills:
  • University master’s degree with proven interest and/or working experience in Communications / Public Affairs, preferably with focus on developing countries and on the clean energies;
  • Good understanding of energy for development policy;
  • Previous work experience in an international, preferably European, Institution, NGO or company desirable;
  • High level of English written and spoken; knowledge of other languages (particularly Spanish, French, Portuguese or German) would be an asset;
  • Ability to provide clear and concise deliverables under time pressure;
  • Strong organisational and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Self-contained, flexible, efficient and a good team player.
