UCL Graduate Research Scholarships for International Students in UK, 2015

Applications are invited for UCL graduate research scholarships available to prospective and current UCL research students from any country. Up to 20 scholarships will be awarded to start or continue to study a research programme at UCL. The scholarships consist of fees equivalent to the standard postgraduate UK/EU rate plus a maintenance stipend for full-time study. The scholarship also includes additional research costs at a level up to £1,000 per year for the stated duration of the programme. Awards are normally tenable for years 1, 2, and 3 of a full-time research degree programme (or years 1-5 of a part-time programme), subject to annual review and renewal. The application deadline is 16 January 2015.

Eligibility: Applicants must be:
-in receipt of an offer of admission to or currently registered at UCL on a full- or part-time research degree programme, and;
-holding or expecting to achieve at least an upper second-class Honours UK undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.
-While current students may apply, those entering their third year of research will normally only be considered for funding in exceptional circumstances.

UCL Graduate Research Scholarships
UCL Graduate Research Scholarships aim to attract high-quality students to undertake research at UCL. Up to 20 UCL Graduate Research Scholarships (GRS) are available annually to prospective and current UCL research students from any country. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and research potential. Financial circumstances are not taken into account.
Number of award(s): Up to 20 UCL Graduate Research Scholarships (GRS) are available.
Duration of award(s): Awards are normally tenable for years 1, 2, and 3 of a full-time research degree programme (or years 1-5 of a part-time programme), subject to annual review and renewal. Where students are undertaking integrated four-year doctoral programmes the award will be extended to the final year of study. If granted, funding begins at the start of the next academic session.
What does it cover? The scholarships consist of fees equivalent to the standard postgraduate UK/EU rate (2014/15: £4,500) plus a maintenance stipend (2014/15: £15,863) for full-time study (benefits are calculated ‘pro rata’ for part-time students). The scholarship also includes additional research costs at a level up to £1,000 per year for the stated duration of the programme. Awards are normally tenable for years 1, 2, and 3 of a full-time research degree programme (or years 1-5 of a part-time programme), subject to annual review and renewal. Where students are undertaking integrated four-year doctoral programmes the award will be extended to the final year of study. If granted, funding begins at the start of the next academic session.
Selection Criteria: Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and research potential. Financial circumstances are not taken into account.
Notification: The selection panel meets in early March and successful candidates can expect to be notified by Monday 9 March 2015 at the latest. If you do not hear by that date, you may assume that your application has been unsuccessful.
How to Apply: There is one common application procedure and form for a number of research student scholarship schemes. Applicants will be considered for a UCL GRS, and overseas fee payers will also be considered for the UCL Overseas Research Scholarships (ORS) and, if applicable, the UCL-CSC (China Scholarships Council) Scholarships. You only need to complete one application form to be considered for any of these funding schemes, provided you fulfill the relevant eligibility criteria. Eligible candidates must complete the UCL Research Scholarship Application Form, and submit it – along with supporting documents specified in the form. At least two academic references should be enclosed along with the application form. You must return the complete application form to the UCL Department where you are registered or to which you have been admitted.
