Master Grants for Students of Developing Countries at University of Ghent in Belgium, 2015

University of Ghent is offering master grants for students from selected developing countries in Belgium. Applicants, who already received a Master Grant in the past, are not eligible. These are awarded for the duration of the studies with a maximum of 2 years. In case of a two-year-programme the scholarship will only be paid for the full term if the student successfully completes the first year of the programme. The scholarship consists of an insurance, an allowance of 1000 euro per month, an installation fee of 500€ and a refund of the yearly tuition fee with a maximum of 80€.

-International Master of Science in Rural Development, International Master of Science in Environmental Technology and Engineering, Master of Advanced Studies in European Law, Erasmus Mundus: Master of Science in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, Erasmus Mundus: European Master of Science in Nematology, Master of Science in Plant Biotechnology, Master of Science in Statistical Data Analysis, Master of Science in Photonics Science and Engineering, Master of Science in Textile Engineering, Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering, Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Master of Science in Technology for Integrated Water Management, Master of Science in Chemical Engineering and Master of Science in Civil Engineering.
-7 International Course Programmes (ICP) for Angola, Myanmar, Niger, Pakistan, Algeria, China and Namibia students: Master of Science in Aquaculture, Master of Science in Environmental Sanitation, Master of Science in Food Technology, Master of Science in Nematology, Master of Science in Physical Land Resources, Master of Science of Nutrition and Rural Development and Master of Marine and Lacustrine Science and Management can apply for a Master Grant for an ICP program. Eligibility:
-Ghent University provides Master Grants to candidates from developing countries who wish to obtain a master’s degree at Ghent University. 
-Applicants who already received a Master Grant in the past are not eligible.
-You have to have a bachelor degree when you submit your application.

Number of award(s): Each year, a maximum of 10 scholarships can be awarded.
Duration of award(s): Grants will be offered for maximum of 2 years.
What does it cover? The grant consists of an insurance, an allowance of 1000 euro per month, an installation fee of 500€ and a refund of the yearly tuition fee with a maximum of 80€.
Selection Criteria: The recommendations are based on:
-The qualifications of the applicant for the master grant (this also implies that the chances of overly qualified candidates might increase).
-Students who successfully follow the first year of a Master Grant programme at Ghent University may have a higher chance of selection.
-There is no strict age limit; altough applicants below 40 years are preferred.
-The significance of the master’s programme for the student’s country.
-Validation of the knowledge in the student’s country.
-The student’s nationality (see nationality).
-The motivation of the applicant.
Notification: Decision will be made in June.
How to Apply: Send an e-mail to admission-at-UGent.be with the following information: Title of your e-mail: Admission – Master Grant 2015-2016. If you get an admission, on the 16th of March 2015 you will get an invitation by e-mail to apply online by the UGent Master Grant application tool.The deadline will be 15th of April 2015. All your documents (diploma, admission letter, etc.) will be automatically uploaded into the application tool. You’ll need to write a motivation and future plans, give 2 references and proof that the university of your studies or your current or future employer has a relationship with Ghent University. For example: staff exchange, research projects, publications, etc. Note that questions about this will not be answered. If you do not know this, please go to the administration office of your university or employment and ask them to guide you. Application for students already in their first master at Ghent University should be made online through a new application tool from the 15th of January on.
Scholarship Application Deadline: The deadline for application for admission(complete file) is 24th December 2014.The scholarship application deadline will be 15th of April 2015.
