John Lewis Partnership Technology Scheme

Technology is the central nervous system of our £8.2 billion gross sales business. It underpins every aspect of the retail life cycle and is an equal partner in the business, offering proactive solutions that give us an edge in a highly competitive environment. Innovation is key – but only if it brings genuine commercial benefits. State-of-the-art gadgets are always of interest, but they must add value to the business. We look to technology to improve the bottom line, enhancing efficiency and driving sales by making multi-channel retail possible. So it’ll come as no surprise that we need the best and brightest people to lead this critical function and continue delivering effective solutions.
As part of our newly developed training scheme, you will not only develop your skills within technology, but also build the qualities required to be a future leader of the business. There’ll be the chance to work with graduates from other schemes on business-focused projects, and to gain a unique insight into the impact technology has on the future of our organisation.

The training
The training – which includes an international placement during year two as well as the opportunity to study for PRINCE2 – is designed to give you a solid foundation on which to build a rewarding long-term career.
-> You will develop your business skills and knowledge in a range of technical and non-technical areas as well as constantly broadening your understanding of retail and seeing the impact that technology has on our operations
-> You can progress along the programming or analysis route, or alternatively, move into project management.

Things to bear in mind
- You'll be based in central London or Bracknell
- We have technology functions in all three of our divisions, John Lewis, Waitrose and Partnership Services. The John Lewis and Waitrose technology functions develop and deliver the IT capacity needed to achieve our ambitious growth plans, while Partnership Services develops and manages our shared technical infrastructure and common systems such as Personnel and Finance used across the whole Partnership.
- You don't need an IT-related degree but should have or expect to graduate with a minimum 2:1 degree in any discipline and GCSE Maths and English grade B or above or equivalent. Please note, you will be required to provide evidence of your qualifications.

Salary
The salary for the scheme is £25,500 and you will receive benefits such as the Partnership annual bonus (which is a proportion of your salary; in 2012 this equated to seven weeks’ additional pay), non-contributory pension scheme, a discount card, ticket subsidies and more besides).
