The Transparency International EU Office in Brussels is seeking a highly motivated intern to support general office activities for a period of 6 months.
The Transparency International EU Office is part of the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Together with more than 90 national offices worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI EU raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption at the EU level. The EU Office promotes transparency, integrity and accountability in EU policies and institutions.

Main function: Internship
Starting date: 01 February 2014 to 31 July 2014 (6 months)
Location: TI EU Office, Brussels, Belgium
Reporting lines: Under supervision of the Director
Remuneration: The intern will be remunerated according to Belgian labour and social security law

Key tasks include:
  • Provide assistance in the organisation of events (workshops, meetings, media launches, training, etc).
  • Undertake desk research to ensure that requested information and data is available to stakeholders.
  • Provide general administrative assistance in day-to-day operations (processing of invoices, budget tracking, audit preparation and fundraising applications).
  • Provide general support in preparation of documents and other work outputs.
  • Assist in gathering data and information to produce accurate and timely financial reports and supporting narrative.
  • Maintain up-to-date, organised and accurate electronic and hard copy filing systems.
  • Coordinate travel by TI-EU staff, Chapter Representatives or external consultants
  • Provide other support to the Office Director as required.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as required
Knowledge, experience, interests and skills:
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate university degree or professional qualification in social science, administration, office management, journalism, economics or another relevant field
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); French and Dutch/Flemish are an asset
  • Administrative and financial management experience
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to handle multiple tasks across a wide range of issues and work under pressure
  • Excellent organisational skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Interest in anti-corruption work in general and the work of TI in particular of
  • Team-player, practical approach to problem solving and ability to work in a small team in a multi-cultural working environment
