We recognise that the realisation of human rights in the 21st century is increasingly dependent on access to the internet and other forms of technology, and with offices in Brussels, New York, Santiago, and Tunis, we combine innovative policy, user engagement, and direct technical support, and work with activists, civil society, and policymakers globally to build technical capacity and advocate for these rights.
About the Internship:
Our Brussels office is seeking an engagement intern who will be actively involved in crafting Access’ message and campaign efforts by working on our major initiatives, notably of Network Neutrality. As a member of the engagement team the intern will support us in developing strategies and executing our campaigns by engaging with the Access community online, and through researching, writing and creating content for these campaigns and initiatives, the intern will learn about some of the most significant developments and issues in privacy and digital rights and be exposed to our technological and policy expertise!
We’re seeking a quick learner capable of grasping and analysing these issues who can create compelling content and engage our online global community.
Responsibilities include:
3 months
Minimum commitment of 20 hours per week

- Assist in the development and execution of Access’ initiatives in Brussels
- Research, write and edit content for our blog
- Monitoring and analysing new and traditional media sources
- Conduct background research and fact-checking for campaigns
- Develop general engagement ideas
- liaising with the press
- Participate in team meetings and discussion Identify outreach and engagement opportunities
- Craft campaign texts to be used on Access’ website
- Use social media and engage with our online community
- Knowledge and interest in digital and human rights
- Strong academic record
- Outgoing, creative and enthusiastic self-starter
- Proven interest in digital freedom, public organising and campaigning
- Proven research, analytical, writing and editing abilities.
- Student or recent graduate in international relations, journalism, communications or similar field
- Fluency in French, German, Spanish or other European languages is a plus, but not required for this position.
