SOAS, University of London is inviting applications doctoral scholarships
for full-time or part-time for a PhD /MPhil/research degree program in
the academic session 2014/15. The normal duration of a full-time
student’s registration is three years for full-time and six years for
part time program. This scholarship will provide remission of the
tuition fees. Home/EU/International students are eligible for this
research scholarship. Applications must be submitted by 31st January
2014.
About Scholarship: The SOAS Doctoral Scholarships (4 scholarships in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities) are available for students who are proposing to register full-time or part-time for a research degree at SOAS in the academic session 2014/15. This scholarship will provide remission of the tuition fees. New awards offered in 2014 are valid only for the 2014/15 academic session but, subject to satisfactory progress, they may be renewed for the normal duration of a full-time student’s registration.
Study: Scholarships are awarded in the following Departments: History, Study of Religions, Music OR Media and Film Studies OR History Art and Archaeology and Anthropology and Sociology. Eligibility:-Applicants must possess or expect to be awarded a Distinction in their Masters Degree from a UK university.
-Applicants with a non-UK degree to be adjudged in the top rank by their referees and transcript.
-Applicants must have an offer of admission to a Research programme at SOAS by the scholarship application deadline.
-Only new research students may apply: those already enrolled on a research degree programme at SOAS are not eligible to apply.
-Candidates currently completing a Masters degree are welcome to apply.
-Open to Overseas and Home/EU applicants only.
Scholarship Open for: PhD scholarships are open to overseas and Home/EU applicants only.
Number of awards: 4 scholarships in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities are available.

Selection Criteria: Candidates will be assessed on academic merit by a Selection Panel consisting of three academic members. The assessment of your application will be based on the information in your scholarship application and in your on-line application for admission. Selectors will be looking at the degree results and also at academic references, statement and other relevant information.
Notification: Successful candidates will be notified by the end of June. If you have not heard from us by the end of June, you should assume that your application was unsuccessful.
