Each year, the University of Warwick offers Chancellor’s
International Scholarships for PhD students. Around 53 scholarships are
offered for international students. Applicants must be applying for a
PhD at the University of Warwick to begin in October 2014. Chancellor’s
International Scholarships will be awarded through a combined
postgraduate research scholarship competition. The combined PGR
scholarship competition allocates the following scholarships:
Chancellor’s Scholarship, Chancellor’s International Scholarship and
Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships. The University is delighted to have
been selected as one of the few institutions in the UK to be awarded
three Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in Humanities. The application
deadline is 13th January 2014 for 2014/15 entry.
Study Subject (s): Chancellor’s and Chancellor’s International Scholarships are offered for in any field offered by the university whereas Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships are offered in the areas of History, Literature and Languages. Eligibility: (1) Chancellor’s International Scholarships: -Applicants for a Chancellor’s International Scholarship must also be applying for a PhD at the University of Warwick to begin in October 2014;
-Applicants must expect to be ‘overseas’ students for fees purposes, but there is no other nationality criteria;
-Applicants may be from any discipline at Warwick.
(2) Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships: -Applicants must be applying for a full-time PhD (or MPhil/PhD) course at the University of Warwick, expecting to begin in Autumn 2014;
-Applicants must be applying to a department within the Arts Faculty or the Philosophy Department.
(3) Chancellor’s Scholarships: -Applicants for a Chancellor’s Scholarship must also be applying for a full-time PhD (or MPhil/PhD) at the University of Warwick expecting to begin in October 2014; OR
-Students currently enrolled on a PhD or MPhil/PhD at the University of Warwick may apply in their first year of registration only.
-Applicants may be from any discipline at Warwick.
-Applicants can be of any nationality, but academic fees will only be paid at the Home/EU rate.
Scholarship Open for International Students: International students can apply for these scholarships.

In 2012/13 alone the University distributed over £3 million of funding via the Chancellor’s and Chancellor’s International Scholarships. The Chancellor’s International Scholarships are allocated annually via a combined postgraduate research scholarship competition and are open to students of any nationality and to any discipline offered at Warwick.

Duration of award(s): Scholarship is offered for Chancellor’s Scholarships are 3.5 years, three years for Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships and Chancellor’s International Scholarships for duration of the course.
What does it cover? For Chancellor’s International Scholarships: Awards made for entry in Autumn 2014 will include both of the following: The full payment of overseas tuition fees (worth up to £17,130 at 13/14 rates). A maintenance stipend in line with RCUK rates (provisional £13,863* for full time award holders in 2014-15).
For Chancellor’s scholarships: Awards made for entry in Autumn 2014 will be up to 3.5 years* of full time funding and include both of the following: The full payment of overseas tuition fees (provisional £3,936 for full-time students in 2014-15) and A maintenance stipend in line with RCUK rates (provisional £13,863* for full time award holders in 2014-15)
-For Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships: Scholarships will be available at the level of £27,000 per annum for a maximum of three years. This includes full payment of the academic course fees and a maintenance payment of the remaining funds. The maintenance payment will be paid directly to the award holder to enable them to utilize the funds for research and training costs.
