Newcastle University offers PhD scholarship
in Innovation and Enterprise for UK/EU and international students for
the academic year 2013/14. Studentship is available to someone with a
strong background and a research focus in the areas of innovation and
enterprise. The studentship will cover PhD fees at the UK/EU rate and
international students will be required to pay the difference between
UK/EU and international fees for three years. The application deadline
is 9th September 2013.
Scholarship Description: This studentship is available to someone with a strong background and a research focus in the areas of innovation and enterprise. Given the scope of the endowment, we are primarily interested in sponsoring a student who has an interest in social enterprising and regional innovation. Alternatively, following David Goldman’s background and business interests, topics related to digital and IT innovation are also welcome. Ideally, the theme proposed should relate to the North East of England, although this is not mandatory.

Eligibility: Applicants should have a good Honours degree (ideally first-class or upper-second-class Honours) in an area related to the proposed field of study. It would be an advantage if you also had, or expected to receive by Autumn 2013, a Master’s-level qualification at ‘credit’ or preferably ‘distinction’ level in a relevant subject area.

Duration: Three years full time PhD scholarship for a student starting in the academic year 2013/14.
Value: The studentship will cover PhD fees at the UK/EU rate and a level of subsistence equal to that provided by ESRC studentships (estimated rate of £13,590 in 2013/14).
