The British Embassy to Belgium is offering an unpaid traineeship
opportunity to gain economic and policy experience for a period of three
months starting in September 2013. This role would involve working
closely with the Embassy’s Economic Attache.

Economic Policy:
- Contribute to sending regular analysis of the economic situation in Belgium for UK government organisations;
- Provide analytical support in financial services and banking regulation issues;
- Undertake and present the results of economic research to support policy development;
- Economic & policy skills.
- Knowledge of key issues (e.g. financial services).
- Reporting & analysis competences in a diplomatic context.
- Organisation skills; ability to plan and prioritise tasks.
- Experience of working in a team.
- Ability to solve problems and pay attention to detail.
- Experience in an English speaking and international work environment.
- Economic/Financial background (Masters student in Economics/Finance or Political Science with interests in economics)
- General knowledge of the Belgian economy
- Good EU-level overview of the financial services industry and banking regulation reforms
- Strong writing skills
- Analytical skills
- Pro-active and able to work without supervision
- Good command of French or Dutch language
- Team-player
