Job Description

The Joint Programming Initiative Healthy and Productive Seas and Oceans) JPI Oceans is the largest coordinated, integrated initiative in the field of marine and maritime research in Europe and is driven by the partnering countries at high level. JPI Oceans seeks to develop a joint and integrated platform for the sustainable use of marine resources and untapping the marine and maritime potentials through research and technology, while taking due consideration to the marine environment. The overall aim of Joint Programming is to pool national research efforts in order to make better use of Europe’s public R&D resources and to tackle common European challenges more effectively. JPI Oceans is in its preparatory phase, with some 17 countries currently participating. The Research Council of Norway – The Department of Environmental Research and Marine Resources, is hosting the JPI Oceans Secretariat which is established in Brussels. Currently, the Research Council of Norway is seeking for a Project Manager for developing and implementing a CSA (Coordination and Support Action) for the period of up to 3 years.

The European Commission has launched a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) to support the structuring and development of JPI Oceans. It is seeking a Project Manager with the responsibility of developing and implementing the CSA within the framework of the secretariat. The project will consist of several different work packages each led by one of the JPI Oceans member countries. The position will involve excellent overview of the political framework for sustainable innovation and marine and maritime research activities in Europe, including extensive dialogue with European research communities, trade and industry and public authorities.

 

Eligibility

- University degree, preferably a doctoral degree
- Good understanding of international framework for research and innovation
- Experience in management of large-scale national and international projects
- Be a dedicated individual with specialist scientific expertise
- Ability to take the initiative and achieve results
- Good communication skills in writing and speaking English
- Other language skills an asset
- Experience with EU funded project is an advantage
- Ability to work independently and to represent JPI Oceans internationally in various contexts
- Ability to maintain contact with relevant national groups
- Expertise in strategic planning
