The Kyiv International Model United Nations Conference (KIMUN) 2011 will be held from the 26th – 28th of October 2011, in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This will be the third session of the KIMUN conference. Previously, KIMUN has successfully brought together students from colleges and universities around the world, providing a stimulating and challenging experience in relation to world affairs, diplomacy and international negotiation. This year, the conference will be in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Throughout the conference, delegates will be provided the opportunity to debate and gain insight into the workings of the United Nations through formulating resolutions, aiming for a consensus and raising international awareness.
What is Model United Nations?
Model United Nations (MUN) is an authentic simulation of specific UN organs, committees or conferences such as the General Assembly or Commission on Sustainable Development. In MUN, students step into the shoes of ambassadors of UN Member states to debate current issues on the organization’s vast agenda.
Who is a Model UN delegate?
A Model UN delegate is a student who assumes the role of an ambassador to the United Nations in a Model UN simulation. Prior to a conference or event, a Model UN delegate does not need extensive experience in international relations. Anyone can participate in Model UN, so long as they have the ambition to learn something new and to work with people to try and make a difference in the world. Model UN students tend to go on to become great leaders in politics, law, business, education and medicine, such as the people mentioned above.
Committees
The KIMUN conference will host 6 Сommittees: Security Council, Human Rights Council, ICJ, ECOSOC, UNICEF, UN Committee on drugs and crimes.
Eligibility
The conference is open to young people between 16 and 30 who have the ambition to learn something new and to work with people to try and make a difference in the world.Costs
Cost of participation for one delegate is: Ukrainian Assembley of Youth – 20 euro, SND countries – 30 euro, Europe, Asia, Africa, America, Australlia countries – 50 euro.
