Cardiff University is offering six PhD
studentships in the school of music for applicants commencing their
studies in September 2014 or January 2015. This studentship is open to
students of any nationality. Students classified as international for
fee purposes have to self-fund the difference between home and
international fees. Studentship covers full tuition fees at the Home/EU
rate. Additionally, the School offers a research allowance to all
postgraduate students of £1,000 per tenure.
About Scholarship: Cardiff School of Music is a research-led department, and has a strong record of research funded by the major councils, including the AHRC, the British Academy and the Leverhulme Trust, and regularly hosts major international conferences. Staff research interests embrace composition, analysis, critical and cultural musicology, ethnomusicology, performance practice and popular music. The School offers all the amenities needed to facilitate the study of music, including an in-house Concert Hall, an extensive onsite Music Library, studio facilities and a dedicated postgraduate suite of rooms with study and social facilities.
