 PHOTOGRAPHY, FILM-MAKING, EFFECTIVE JOURNALISM Internship – Palestine, Gaza.

Gaza Reporting International Network is a unique initiative launched by Palestinian media experts.  Our aim is to broadcast live from Gaza city, in English, to the outside world.  This will be through a variety of Media channels including Livestream TV, Radio and online news coverage. We will also be promoting the stunning scenery and daily life of Gaza through our online photo gallery that will depict a side of Gaza that is rarely seen.  
Gaza Reporting International Network is now in a position to offer a limited number of internships to Internationals who might wish to participate in our groundbreaking initiative.  This online NGO is the first of its kind to be launched in Gaza.  It was the dream of many of the people of Gaza who have worked tirelessly to ensure their dream becomes a reality.  It heralds a new era of Media and non profit online enterprises driven by the vision and enthusiasm of the Youth of Gaza.  Your support would ensure that this dynamism is capitalized upon and used to take our story forward onto a world stage where our hope is that it will achieve Peace in our Time.
Description
A Partnership for Peace.
This internship is offered to candidates with expertise in the fields of Photography, Film-making and Journalism.  It is a unique opportunity to gain experience in one of the most politically pivotal areas of the Middle East.
You will be expected to assist in the training of amateur Palestinians in these fields.  The cultural exchange of ideology and methodology will enhance their skills and better prepare them for participation in a much wider International arena.  The goal is for Palestinians to carry their own message to the world in a way that is accessible to everyone.  This can only be achieved through an International cooperation and partnership for Peace.
Responsibilities
  • Preparing in-depth training material in any of the aforementioned fields.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the overall process of the training –continuous assessment.
  • Providing a detailed Resource and Needs analysis.
  • Developing a Marketing strategy
  • Developing strategic and tactical skills
  • Cost/benefit analysis.
Requirements
Applicants should be professionals in the aforementioned fields and should have at least 2 years experience in their chosen field.  Relevant qualifications up to and including degree level are also required although experience in the field, if extensive, will be taken into consideration during the selection process.  Internship will be for a maximum of 4 weeks.
All applicants should be fluent in English.  Knowledge of Arabic is not essential but would be an advantage.
Applications must be submitted by the 24.2.2013, start date will 1.4.2013.
Once you are accepted,  Gaza Reporting undertakes to facilitate your entrance into the Gaza strip.  There may always be unforseen circumstances that will make this process more difficult but we will keep you informed of any changes as they happen.

As intern in this field your goal will be to secure additional funding to ensure the future of Gaza Reporting as a leading non profit online media channel. You will be responsible for all the fundraising activities associated with Gaza Reporting.  You will head up the fundraising team and oversee the management.  As a member of the management team you will be expected to contribute to long term strategy and to attend the Management team meetings.
The goal will be to have in place, an agreed strategy for the next five years with clear objectives for each Managment team member and a way of assessing progress against forecast on a regular basis.  
Intern-Job title: Fundraising and Administrative Manager (FAM)

Key Duties:
  • Generate increased income from existing sources
  • Identify and research potential funding opportunities.
  • Develop proposals for projects that could attract new funding.
  • Establish links with other voluntary and statutory bodies.
  • Assist the proposal and reports officer in developing a sustainable fundraising strategy.
  • Organize and maintain a workable business adminstration concept
  • General Administrative duties  - Prepare official correspondence, coordinate and tracking functions , format correspondence, mark recommendations, and handle incoming and outgoing visit request.


Management responsibilities:
  • Manage the online channel's budget and set financial targets.
  • Implement a realistic 5 year plan
  • Supervise Fundraising process in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Carry out recruitment and selection of staff as necessary
  • Coach and develop Fundraising team including holding regular appraisals and conducting performance reviews. Continuous assessment.
  • Maintain the security of confidential information.

Intern-Job title: Proposal and Reports officer (PRO)

Key Duties and responsibilities
  • Review requests for proposals
  • Develops proposal plans, outlines and schedules
  • For each new proposal, you will assemble a project team consisting of partners, consultants, subcontractors, writers, editors, illustrators, desktop publishers, proofreaders etc. You will monitor and review their progress both as individuals and as a team.
  • Guide proposal team writers in preparing the technical and cost components of the proposal, including understanding of the task, plan, past performance review and personnel selection.
  • Review proposal draft and final versions for relevance, thoroughness, accuracy, staffing, financial considerations, quality and effective design and layout. In addition, the proposal manager is the main point of contact for the company at bidder's conferences and during site visits.
  • In addition to work on specific proposals, the proposal officer creates corporate concepts and blueprints/templates for future projects
  • After the each proposal submission, the proposal manager will ensure efficient follow up such as negotiations; contract start-up briefings and "proposal lessons learned" staff meetings.
Role
