The Aalborg Model for Problem Based Learning
Unique to AAU is its study method Problem Based Learning (PBL). Through PBL, you are in charge of your own learning process as you work project-oriented on a topic of your choice within a group of your fellow students.
PBL is about curiosity, creativity and innovation as you define your own problem formulation, which works as a guideline for your project. A problem formulation originates in something that makes you curious why it is the way it is, motivating you to research it and reach your own answers, perhaps contributing with new knowledge within your field.
In addition, PBL provides you with the opportunity to cooperate with a company or organisation on your project. Maybe a company has had an unsuccessful advertisement campaign and need you to figure out why it did not succeed. In that way, you can create a network during your studies, which you might find useful when applying for an internship or a job after your studies.
Tuition
If you are an EU/EEA student or a student from one of Aalborg University’s many partner universities, you are not required to pay tuition at AAU. Put simply, this means that you can study at AAU for free. However, if you are a student from outside the EU/EEA and you are not enrolled at one of AAU’s partner universities, you will be required to pay tuition.
Traineeship
As part of most study programmes at AAU, you will be able to do a traineeship for one semester. A traineeship is an excellent opportunity for you to put your knowledge into practice and gain actual work experience. In addition, it is a good opportunity for you to start building or expand your professional network. Most study programmes allow you to choose where to do your traineeship, meaning that you can either explore the Danish labour market or travel abroad.
