2014 Postdoctoral Position in Social Anthropology at University of Oslo in Norway

The University of Oslo is inviting applications for postdoctoral position at the Department of Social Anthropology. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in social anthropology. When evaluating the application, emphasis will be given to the applicant’s academic and personal prerequisites to carry out the project and to the project description. The appointment is for the duration of two years. Application should be submitted till 17th March 2014.
About Scholarship: A postdoctoral position in social anthropology is vacant at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Oslo. The position forms part of the ESOP project ‘European Strains’, directed by Prof. Kalle Moene and Prof. Halvor Mehlum, and of Prof. Thomas Hylland Eriksen’s project ‘Overheating: The Three Crises of Globalisation’

Selection Criteria: Evaluating the application, emphasis will be given to the applicant’s academic and personal prerequisites to carry out the project and to the project description.

-Application letter, including a short description of the applicant’s academic profile, how the applicant sees his or her academic orientation fitting in with the core areas of the project and how the applicant wishes to contribute to the project.
-Project description and progress plan (maximum 5 pages including references) for the work to be undertaken during the course of the term of appointment. The project description must include the theme of the project, issues to be examined, the chosen theoretical and methodological approach and a progress plan.
-CV (complete list of education, positions, pedagogical experience, administrative experience and other qualifying activities)
-A complete list of publications. The applicant is requested to highlight up to five academic publications for particular consideration during the assessment process. Copies of these works must be made available on request.
