Internship Opportunity IDF - International Diabetes Federation

Overview and Mission

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an alliance of over 200 national diabetes associations with two million members in more than 160 countries and territories. It is committed to raising global awareness of diabetes, providing education support for people with diabetes and their healthcare providers and encouraging activities that support work to find a cure for the different types of diabetes.
The IDF Intern Programmes gives undergraduate students the opportunity to obtain training and exposure to IDFs work in the field of diabetes and non-communicable diseases. All intern posts are based at the Federation’s Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
  • Applicants must be at least undergraduate students who require an internship for their course or have achieved a first degree;
  • EU nationality and/or right to live and work in Belgium without a work permit;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English;
  • Knowledge of other languages is an asset;
  • Fast word-processing skills and good command of Microsoft Office;
  • Proactive, flexible, good communicator;
  • Excellent organisational and team working skills.
Intern for Policy and Programmes Team

The Policy and Programmes team is a team of highly motivated and skilled individuals who develop, guide, implement and evaluate projects for health care professionals and people with diabetes. The team is seeking a highly motivated intern to work with them in the development of new proposals and support existing projects in education globally.

The main roles of the intern will include:
  • Support current project coordinators and administrators with existing projects;
  • Supporting drafting of policy and research papers and presentations;
  • Undertake literature searches to establish background data for new proposals;
  • Assist in the development of timelines and plans for projects;
  • Assist with production and distribution of education communications material for key stakeholders;
  • Participate in education meetings and Policy & Programmes Department meetings;
  • Provide further assistance as required to the education and epidemiology team and other related projects/activities; undertake special projects.

Special Job Requirements

  • Experience in literature searches and project proposals is highly desirable;
  • Ability to produce summarised reports for a variety of audiences is highly desirable.
The intern will work full-time (38 hours per week) in the IDF Policy and Programmes Department, and report to the Senior Education Specialist.
