SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
The internship involves:
1. A project focused on the management of network contacts and interaction with the different member’s groups aimed at improving outreach and communication strategy (50%)
2. Acting as a connecting link to the intern’s native member region and supporting the daily management of the NEREUS-Secretariat (50%)
1. Description of the project:
In the broader context of improving network interaction, the intern will be asked to explore new tools for enhancing a continuous interaction with current and potential new members. This will include finding solutions to have a more user-friendly, updated and even larger contact database using also possible Communication Management Systems (CMSs) helping to link the website to the network’s contact data (e.g. when people register for a NEREUS event their data are automatically included in our database). Another task will be to explore new ways to organize the data base more efficient, to better keep track of specific interests of members and their involvement in the different groups and activities of NEREUS, and label the different actors and their roles in the different member regions. Additionally, the intern will be also involved in finding new solutions to cluster the groups and sub-groups of members on the platform and contacts in an easier and user-friendly way.
2. Description of work related to linking NEREUS to member region and supporting the NEREUS-Secretariat
This section of the internship aims at improving the communication and information flow between NEREUS and the native region of the intern. Depending on the needs of the region and its motivation for being a member of NEREUS, the intern will support the Information and Communication Strategy with special focus on his/her region. Simultaneously the intern will source more information from the region and make the region aware that NEREUS might be an interesting platform for promoting its activities. Finally, the successful candidate will support the NEREUS-Secretariat in all tasks relating to the daily management and coordination of the network.

- Supporting the NEREUS Secretariat: organising NEREUS events and meetings (preparing documents, information and promotion material, manage technical and logistic aspects). Several key events will be organized in Spring/Summer 2015 such as an event at the Committee of the Regions and the NEREUS General Assembly;
- Under the supervision of the NEREUS-Secretariat managing the NEREUS’ twitter account;
- Contributing to the communication strategy, including drafting texts for newsletter, newsflash, briefing notes and drafting letters etc.; information research, mailing activities etc.
- Ideally university degree in communication or related areas;
- Good knowledge of different communication technologies and tools as well as experience in using social media;
- Interest in space technologies and applications;
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills;
- Ability to conduct research project;
- High standard of spoken and written English together with a high standard of spoken and written French; knowledge in another European language is a welcome asset;
- Very good organisational skills and ability to work as part of a small team;
- Very good IT skills and experience with Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
- Previous work or internship experience in some of the required tasks would be an asset;
- Monthly contribution for living expenses of 699.00 EUR net;
- The internship will last 6 months (possibility to extended to other 3 months for a total of max 9 months);
- The intern is expected to work full-time; (09.00h-18.00h)
- Starting date (approximate): February/March 2015
