ESRC South West Doctoral Training Centre Scholarship for Study in Universities of Bristol, United Kingdom

If you would like to study in Universities of Bristol, United Kingdom and pursue Full Time Doctoral Program in Social Sciences and Law you can avail ESRC South West Doctoral Training Centre Scholarship which is being offered by South West Doctoral Training Centre (SWDTC).
This is a Doctoral Program Merit Based Scholarship and students are eligible from UK/ EU Student to apply for the same. Only Few such award is being offered and the deadline for application is 12-Feb-15.
This Scholarship will offer you is home tuition fees plus living expenses of the RCUK minimum per annum for UK students, EU students will receive a fees only award unless they can prove they meet the ESRC’s eligibility guidelines and have been settled and resident in the UK for at least 3 Year.

Eligibility:
  1. Scholarships are available as either a 1+3 award (a 1 year MSc before 3 years funding for a PhD) or  +3 funding for for those who already have undertaken recognised research trainin (3 years funding for a PhD only).
  2. For entry requirements and application guidance for the +3 award, please see the admissions statement. PhD students receive 3 years worth of funded study plus 1 additional unfunded year to write up their thesis (4 years in total). Part Time  study is available for some programmes, please see the Prospectus for details.
  3. Regardless of whether you think you are to be awarded a 1+3 or a +3 award you must apply to the Phd programme in order to attach your research proposal.
  4. Students wishing to undertake Phd study only (+3 awards) must meet the ESRC criteria in terms of previous Masters level study and should read the admissions statement for information.
  5. UK students may apply for a full award for the programme of their choice.EU students may apply to any pathway but in order to be eligible for a full scholarship (fees plus a maintenance grant), students must be able to provide evidence that they meet the ESRC’s eligibility guidelines and have been settled and resident in the UK for at least three years prior to the start of their program. EU students who are not able to provide evidence that they are settled in the UK will be eligible for a fees only award.
  6. Students are encouraged to look at ways of incorporating collaboration with external partners into their research proposal. Collaboration does not always have to be a financial arrangement and could take the form of a placement, voluntary work, data sharing or other payment in kind opportunities.
  7. Students considering overseas fieldwork, overseas institutional visits or difficult language training should also mention this in their application where possible.
