Communications Internship British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium

The British Chamber is currently looking for an intern specializing in Communications. This role is crucial in providing support to all areas of the British Chamber in ensuring all communications tools and platforms are being used efficiently. They should also be able to speak French and have a very good level of written English. We are looking for an individual who is very well organised and has a keen eye to detail.
The British Chamber Intern Programme is an on going 6 months and/or year internship programme where they work with the British Chamber team and develop their organizational and communication skills, acquire project management skills, gain cross cultural awareness and learn how to work in a multicultural environment..
Ideal Profile
  • Some experience with public relations, communications or journalism.
  • Very good level of English
  • Ability to work independently and good time management skills.
  • Understanding of how online and social media can contribute to the organization of an event or the profile of a business
  • Computer savvy (MS Office, Photoshop etc) with a keen eye for visuals
Key Responsibilities
  • Implement communications plans for flagship events and activities including liaising with content lead and relevant media
  • Implement overall communications plan
  • Maintain and update chamber communication tools (e.g. prospective members information, committee info etc) across all channels
  • Communicating post event activity
  • Liaising with appropriate stakeholders to develop content for website and media articles for overall chamber brand
  • Managing social media accounts
  • Identifying opportunities for PR and promotion in media in UK, Belgium (and other countries)
  • Supporting events team on putting key British Chamber events together
Location
The internship takes place at the British Chamber office, Boulevard Bischofssheim 11, 1000 Brussels Belgium. The office is located at Madou metro station.

Work hours
Office Opening hours are as follows:
Monday – Thursday: 09.00 – 17.00
Friday: 09.00 – 16.00

Type & length of internship
Full time internship – is where work is performed on regular basis as if working for the organisation.

Length
Typically interns start in August/September through until January/February or January/February through until May/June. However we can be flexible, depending upon college requirements.

Financial aspects
This position is not an employed position but is a paid internship in accordance with local labour law (contrat d’immersion professionelle / beroepsinlevingsovereenkomst). Applicants must have a valid working permit in Belgium.
