Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Germany Sponsored by Daimler and Benz Foundation

The Daimler and Benz Foundation now invites outstanding scientist in Germany in any field of studies to apply postdoctoral scholarship which is valued up to € 20,000 per scholarship each year (during 2 years).
Description
This program is addressed to young postdoctoral scientists in Germany, who are in the early phase of their postgraduate research. The program is, in the sense of the foundation’s statutes, open for all scientific disciplines and subject areas. Prerequisites are an own research project and an affiliation with a scientific institution.

Award Amount

The scholarship winners wIll be granted up to € 20,000 per scholarship. Since the Daimler and Benz Foundation aims to strengthen outstanding young scientists in their research autonomy, the scholarship is optional the use of financial resources. They can be used for the financing of computers or technical equipment, research assistants, research or travel to attend meetings on individual needs. The scholarship, however, cannot be used for printing costs, consumables or to cover personal living expenses.

Eligibility
The fellowships are intended to sponsor postdocs, junior professors, and scientists in comparable positions, e. g., independent team leaders of groups of young scientists in German research institutions. They can only be applied for by persons who apply to the foundation with a research project. Applicants can apply for the fellowship only on behalf of their own research project. The doctorate should, at the time of application, not lie further back in the past than two years.

At irregular intervals, the foundation will organize meetings which will serve to promote the exchange of ideas among fellowship holders and their contact to the foundation. The willingness to participate in these meetings is presupposed.

Application Procedure

Applications may be submitted in German and/or English. Each application is reviewed by a committee. The Commission consists of the Board of Management of Daimler and Benz Foundation, the managing director and evaluators. After the deadline initially there will be a pre-selection. The selected applicants will be invited to a seminar in the Daimler and Benz Foundation in which they present their science project in the presence of representatives of the Foundation as well as peer reviewers personally. Participation in this seminar and the presentation of the research project are a prerequisite for the subsequent award of a scholarship.
