Internship / Stage - Shipping & Aviation

Transport & Environment (T&E), the leading Brussels-based NGO promoting cleaner transport in Europe, is offering an internship for a period of six months, starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be working with T&E's Shipping and Aviation team, supporting our campaigns for cleaner and more efficient ships and planes. 
Responsibilities will include:
Monitoring regulatory and industrial developments at European and international level (ICAO and IMO)
Assisting in following up the outcomes of the Paris COP21
Organising events in the European Parliament and elsewhere
Maintaining and developing contact databases
Ad-hoc tasks
Skill and competences required:
Good knowledge of climate issues
Sound understanding of the functioning of EU policymaking processes
Demonstrable interest in environmental politics and environmental campaigning
Good written and verbal communications skills including the ability to translate complicated policy issues into digestible communications
Well-organised and able to work on projects autonomously
Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment and have strong interpersonal skills
Computer literacy
Fluency in English is essential. Any other language is an asset
This is a fixed six-month contract with remuneration once the successful candidate is eligible under the terms of the Belgian labour code's convention d'immersion professionnelle.
The deadline for applications is 22 February 2016, and interviews will commence the week of 29 February 2016, with a view to the candidate starting by sometime in March.

A short analysis (300-500 words) on the outcomes of the Paris Agreement: how it may affect the aviation and shipping sector and what action the United Nations agencies in charge of them (IMO and ICAO) need to take to tackle emissions from international transport.
