2015 Mexican Government Excellence Scholarship Program for Foreign Students, Mexico

Mexican Government is offering excellence scholarship program for foreign students. Scholarships are available for special programs (Visiting Professors, High-level Conferences, Genaro Estrada Scholarship for Specialists in Mexican Studies, Artist Residencies, Media Residencies and Improving the Quality of Mexican Secondary and Higher Education Institutions) at Mexican host institutes. The scholarships are not transferable and cannot be deferred to future years. Two people cannot be awarded a scholarship for the same project. The application deadline is August 14, 2015.
Study Subject (s): Visiting Professors program is available to give special lectures, courses, workshops, seminars, etc. in Mexican universities or research centers. High-level Conferences is available give the high-level conference, Genaro Estrada Scholarship is awarded in Mexican Studies, Artist Residencies is available in the field of artistic work, Media Residencies is available to media professionals (print or electronic) who are interested in writing articles and reports and conducting interviews in Mexico and Improving the Quality of Mexican Secondary and Higher Education Institutions to applicant who is expert in the topic of the conference, course, workshop or exchange of experiences and best practices in internationalization.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for special programs (Visiting Professors, High-level Conferences, Genaro Estrada Scholarship for Specialists in Mexican Studies, Artist Residencies, Media Residencies and Improving the Quality of Mexican Secondary and Higher Education Institutions) at Mexican host institutes.

Eligibility: Scholarships are not transferable and cannot be deferred to future years. The following are not eligible:
-Foreign diplomats accredited in Mexico or their family
-Resident foreigners in Mexico
-Foreigners with Mexican citizenship
-Two people cannot be awarded a scholarship for the same project.
Visiting Professors: Must have a PhD or an established academic/research career in the academic area to be pursued in Mexico. Four hours a week is the minimum required for the activity.
High-level Conferences: Must have a PhD or an established academic/research career in the academic area to be pursued in Mexico.
Genaro Estrada Scholarship for Specialists in Mexican Studies: Researchers and specialists with extensive research experience and publications on any topic related to Mexico.
Artist Residencies: Artists, graduate students or academics with a proven history in the area for which the grant is requested.
Media Residencies: Must be an international education administrator or an expert in the topic of the conference, course, workshop or exchange of experiences and best practices in internationalization.

What does it cover? The Academic Exchange Office will arrange for and purchase the international airfare. If the applicant or the host institution purchases the ticket directly, they will not be reimbursed. If the applicant cancels his/her trip after the Foreign Ministry has purchased the plane ticket, he/she or the institution that nominated the applicant will be asked to reimburse the Foreign Ministry.

-Monthly stipend equivalent to 5 (five) times the minimum salary in Mexico City, currently the equivalent of $10,515.00 pesos (approximately US$681.901 ).
-Round-trip international airfare at the beginning and end of the scholarship.
-Mexico City host institution Mexico City transportation. Any activities carried out elsewhere in Mexico during the stay must be paid for by the applicant.
-IMSS health insurance beginning in the third month of the grant.
High-level Conferences:
-Round-trip international airfare at the beginning and end of the grant.
-Mexico City host institution Mexico City transportation if the conference is given outside of Mexico City.

Notification: Applicants will be informed of the results in writing by the corresponding Mexican embassy or the Mexican host institution. The files of any unsuccessful applicants will not be returned.
How to Apply: The complete application and accompanying documentation, as indicated by each program, must be received by the Academic Exchange Office at least one month before the start date of the activity. Applications will not be accepted directly from the applicants.  Applications sent by fax or email will not be accepted.  Only applications accompanied by all of the required documentation will be accepted. Original documents will not be accepted (only the medical certificate should be the original copy). The files of any unsuccessful applicants will not be returned.
Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is August 14, 2015.
