2013/2014 The Julia Corine Barnes Scholarship by Questia, USA

The Julia Corine Barnes Scholarship is in honor of Julia Corine, who was the winner of Questia’s Most Valuable Professor program. The winners of the scholarship will be granted $2,500.

Description
The Julia Corine Barnes Scholarship is sponsored and fully funded by Questia. The selection of the candidates will be based on academic accomplishments–students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and if the applicant is a high school seniors, they must submit test scores (SAT/ACT).

Eligibility
This scholarship award is targeted to students who are pursuing a degree in language, literature, or linguistics.  The great thing about this scholarship is that students in high school (who are college bound seniors), college, and graduate school are all able to apply (as long as they are studying language/lit/linguistics).

Application Procedure

  • Applicants are required to write a one page essay that discusses what they are majoring in and what their goals are with their major.
  • In addition to the essay, the scholarship committee will also be looking at academic accomplishments–students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and if the applicant is a high school seniors, they must submit test scores (SAT/ACT).
  • The final piece of the application is a letter of recommendation from a teacher or professor.
