PRIO hereby announces two scholarships for master’s degree students
scheduled to finish their thesis by May 2013. The scholarships are given
in connection with the project “Political Institutions and Armed Conflict”, directed by Håvard Hegre.
The deadline for applications is 20 September 2012, and decisions will be made by 1 October.
Scholarships are granted for a period of seven months, from 15 October to 15 May. For successful applicants, PRIO offers a monthly stipend of NOK 3,500. Successful applicants will be in residence at PRIO’s offices in Hausmanns gate 7 in Oslo. They will be assigned a supervisor from among PRIO’s staff and encouraged to take part in the institute’s scholarly activities. Students will be given access to institute facilities (e.g. library services, photocopiers) and are expected to present their on-going work at internal seminars.
Scholarship holders must write a master’s thesis relevant to the “Political Institutions and Armed Conflict” project (in particular see the project description).

Hard copies must be received on the deadline date before the PRIO reception closes at 16:00!

- Thesis description, including a draft, contents/chapters list and suggested relevant literature (max 10 pp. for all three)
- Time schedule for the thesis
- A recommendation from your adviser (if one has already been appointed) or from another scholar familiar with your work
