The Authority
The EFTA Surveillance Authority monitors compliance by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway with the law of the European Economic Area (EEA), enabling those countries to participate in the European internal market.

In monitoring and enforcing the EEA Agreement, the Authority has powers that correspond to those of the European Commission. The Authority is based in Brussels and operates independently of the EFTA States.
The Authority is led by a College which consists of three members appointed by the EEA EFTA States.

The vacant position
The successful candidate will be a service-minded, motivated and flexible, and efficient person who shall assist the Authority’s senior management (President and Members of College) with general administrative and secretarial tasks, e.g. preparing correspondence, agendas and other official documents, proof reading, internal reporting, making travel arrangements, administering expense claims and invoices, preparing meetings, and providing general support for any additional, practical daily tasks as may arise. The selected person will be expected to cooperate closely with other assistants in the organisation, including for back-up functions. In addition, as work load allows, the successful candidate will be assigned specific tasks to assist the Administrative department, e.g. accountancy and statistical operations, web updates, filling in VAT claims forms, administrative or HR reporting.

Qualifications required
Essential:
- Relevant professional experience and education;
- Excellent command of English; drafting skills in English is essential;
- Computer literacy, in particular proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).

Desirable:
- Good understanding of Norwegian, Icelandic, or German (EFTA languages), French;
- Proficiency in using document handling systems in larger organisations.
