Internship at Friends of the Earth

Contract period: from September 2012, for six - eight months
Full time and based in the FoEE office in Brussels

Profile of the internship
The intern-will support the FoEE Management Team (MT) in their everyday agenda with an aim to deliver a challenging programme of high-impact external activities, as well as assisting in effectively managing the organisation and the network.
The person will work very closely with the MT members to manage their priorities and workload, to organise the agenda and logistics, and to provide support for specific tasks related to organisational and network development.

Goals and responsibilities include:
- Administrative Assistance Manage agendas of the two MT members in a balanced and sustainable way
- Coordinate travelling arrangements
- Organise preparations for meetings (logistic arrangements, ensure all documents/briefings are ready/available)
- Coordinate or assist the administrative processes relating to recruitment processes of staff directly recruited by the MT or its respective members
- Coordinate legal documents related to FoEE’s registration Work with various databases
- Content Assistance

The MT intern will be asked to undertake specific tasks or projects for example:
- Undertake research and/or draft briefings for the MT on specific issues or for specific audiences (including help with implementation of the Human Rights Defenders Project)
- Contribute to logistical and administrative arrangements for major projects in which the MT is involved e.g., Strategic Planning, Annual General Meeting
- Assist in content preparations of the Executive Committee meetings and Annual General Meeting
- Assist in fundraising/reporting activities upon request Support the organisation, facilitation and evaluation of capacity building activities with the FoEE network

Requirements
Essential
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills as well as high level of reliability and diplomacy
- University degree
- Fluent in English, which is the working language (any additional languages are an advantage)
- Have good writing, researching and editing skills
- Have good knowledge of Microsoft office pack
- Be prepared for routine office duties but also love unexpected situations
- Able to undertake a rich combination of standard
-Assistant duties and new projects
- Committed to FoEE’s vision, mission and values

Desirable
- Have a strong motivation for NGO work or voluntary activities
- The ability to speak one or more of the other EU languages Knowledge of EU affairs and structures
- Knowledge of environmental issues

When
Position to start ideally in September 2012.
Based in Brussels, full time, for 6-8 months. The intern will be based in our office in an ecological building in Brussels - a busy and highly motivating working environment of an international NGO.

Remuneration: 800 euro/month
