REactor: Conference & Workshops

Description

Egyesek and its partners run a long-term project called Video Volunteers based on the belief that “everyone has a message” to tell. The question is how to support youth and disadvantaged groups to express, share and respond through media. How to enable them to stand up from the couch and work actively with others on social issues with the support of a coach, mentor, peer educator.
The Focus
  • What inspires and interests youth in the age of digital media?
  • What are the benefits and the challenges of using media in youth work?
  • How can disadvantaged youth be reached through and included in the media?
  • How can human and social issues be joined and shared through the media?
  • During the meeting participants will have the opportunity to share, reflect and
  • develop activities through personal discussions, workshops and other contributions.
Activities
  • Debate about key matters of non-formal media education of youth
  • Discuss, share good practices or problems faced, solutions found
  • Evaluate of non-formal educational activities
  • Present results of the Video Volunteers project
  • Study visit
  • Discuss and design future actions

Venue

The REactor Conference & Workshop will be held in the European Youth Center Budapest in Budapest from the 19th till the 25th of May 2012, with 31 peer educators, youthworkers, trainers and professionals who are residents in Council of Europe’s Member States (for countries check here).

Costs

The organisers will provide accommodation and board for the participants at the European Youth Center Budapest. If you have any special requirements, please express them in your application form.
The organizers will only reimburse your travel costs if you participate in the whole program and follow the administrative requirements of buying tickets. 65% of the travel cost can be reimbursed, and you have to choose the cheapest way of travelling and buy return tickets. Please refer to the maximum travel cost in the table in the Info letter. If you buy more expensive tickets, maximum reimbursement will be maintained. For maximum costs per country, please refer to the table.
The participation fee is the following:
  • 50 Euro: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, FYROM, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Ukraine
  • 80 Euro: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russian Federation, San Marino, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom
Payment of the participation fee should be done at the registration in cash. The reimbursement of the travel costs will be done by bank transfer after receiving all required documents.
Participants from other countries may participate on their own expense. If you are interested, contact the organisers.

Eligibility

31 peer educators, youth workers, trainers, and professionals, residents of Council of Europe member countries. Experienced and interested in media literacy and/or human rights, preferably with practical experience using media related methods.

Application

To attend the REactor Conference & Workshops, fill in the application form (REactor Application form) and send it by 12th of April 2012 to reactor.application@gmail.com
The selection of the participants will be made by the 19th of April 2012. The accepted participants will receive a document with the details of travel arrangements and other practicalities.
As soon as the selection letter is received, participants arrange their travels. The participants will have to buy their tickets by the 2 May 2012 and send the copies of them to the organisers; otherwise people from the waiting list will be contacted.
