Description

Peace Child International (PCI), a youth-led development and educational charity with consultative status at the United Nations, seeks a full-time, enthusiastic coordinator to join their team of international interns beginning late May 2012.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with the right interest and experience to lead a programme looking at best practice across Europe of job creation schemes and support of youth entrepreneurial programmes
Responsibilities
  • To research and networks  of job creation schemes in UK and across EU
  • To work with youth groups in one specific town in UK to host a seminar featuring good local initiatives.
  • To maintain the data base of delegates
  • To organize planning of seminars and trainings – and to deliver them
  • To travel to different centres in Europe to meet with local groups. maintain contact with the affiliates/partners
  • To write report and ensure getting accurate reports and accounts from participating groups.

Eligibility

Person Profile:  These are the skills and abilities the ideal candidate will possess.
  • Be fluent English speaker.  Additional European language an advantage
  • Practical experience in working with youth groups.
  • Knowledge about business/management  skills.
  • Have some experience of delivering trainings and an interest in teaching / mentorship
  • Enthusiasm and an ability to generate ideas and carry project forward.
  • Good coordination skills.
  • Able to write up reports.

Remuneration

PCI is a flexible, informal organisation – so you must be prepared to be adaptable, creative and pitch in wherever you can. This position is a residential internship located in Hertfordshire, UK (in between London and Cambridge). All volunteers live in shared accommodation and take turns shopping, cleaning and cooking. Food, accommodation and domestic travel expenses when on Peace Child business is provided and a small weekly stipend of £25.00. You will have enough to live on, but your real gains will be in work experience, contacts and personal development.
