Description
The Department of Political Science at the University of Oslo hereby
announces three vacant positions as PhD Research Fellow. The persons
appointed may choose between a three year-appointment with no teaching
requirement, or an appointment for a period of four years with a 25 per cent
teaching requirement. In the Department of Political Science teaching is
organized into five sections:
Public policy and administration;
Comparative politics;
Political theory;
International politics;
Research methods.
Candidates will be part of the Faculty’s PhD programme and
the work performed will be expected to lead to a PhD in Political Science. Applicants
must submit a project description of up to 3000 words outlining the
research topic, the specific problems to be studied, the sources of data to be
used, the choice of scientific theory and method, and a realistic schedule that
details how the project will be completed within the fellowship period.
Eligibility
To be appointed for the position, the successful candidate
must have a Master’s degree (120 ECTS) or an equivalent qualification in
Political Science. The Master’s degree must include a thesis of at least
30 ECTS, and training in research methodology. In evaluating
applications, academic qualifications and the project outline will be given
more weight than other disciplinary and general qualifications. Successful
candidates must document top grades and an MA Thesis of the highest quality.
Personal suitability will also be an important factor. Short-listed applicants
will be called for interview.
Fellowship
The position is remunerated by salary of the level 50 – 54, NOK
430,500 – 459,700, (approximately EUR 47,261 – 50,466) depending on
qualifications. Moreover, research fellow will obtain an attractive pension scheme through the Norwegian Public Service Pension
Fund.

Copies of transcripts: All applicants must submit their
Master’s degree Diploma and transcript(s), preferably together with a class

translator). The transcript must specify the grade achieved on the Master’s
thesis;
Official explanation of the grading and credit system at
your university, preferably translated into ECTS-credits;
List of publications and academic work that the applicant
wishes to be considered by the evaluation committee.
