Multimedia Assistant (Paid Internship)

We are currently looking for a creative Multimedia Assistant for a paid internship at Europe’s World Group from August 2015 to June 2016. The qualified candidate will be responsible for supporting the Audiovisual Manager in the production of publications and audiovisual materials for Friends of EuropeDebating Europe andEurope’s World.
Responsibilities will include the following tasks :
Drafting the layout of printed materials (Conference packs, conference reports, newsletters, event invitations/reminders and policy papers, adverts, flyers…)
Giving input into creating the visual identity for al EWG brands (namely Debating Europe and Friends of Europe): logotypes, templates, business cards, …)
Helping create the online communication materials (infographics, adverts, pictures for the website, thumbnails, Facebook cover photos, Vimeo branding…)
Assisting with filming and editing video interviews for the web using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5.
Occasionally producing videos using Adobe After Effects (trailers, promo videos, bumpers…)
Skills Required:
Degree level in Media, Film, graphics or related field
Fully proficient with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Microsoft Publisher, Powerpoint, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5.

Your role
You will be supporting the team in all tasks related to management of EC contracts in the field of environment and energy. You will be required to demonstrate a combination of discipline, flexibility, and precision in all tasks.
Responsibilities
Support Project Managers in implementing all project activities;
Identify and recruit experts, prepare contracts and follow-up on invoices;
Attend project meetings and prepare minutes;
Organize training and events in Brussels, including logistical support to experts;
Liaise with the client, project experts and project partners on day-to-day implementation of project activities;
Perform other duties as determined by the Project Manager.
Requirements
Academic background: BA or MA in Environment, Energy International Relations or Political Science (or current student in the same disciplines);
Professional experience in the implementation of EU contracts would be considered as an advantage;
Professional experience in the field of environment/energy/climate change/nature conservation or similar fields of expertise would be considered as an asset;
IT-skills: advanced use of MS Office;
Rigorous, accuracy and attention to detail;

About EPD
The European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) is an independent European non-profit organisation supporting democratic transformations outside the European Union. As a network of European civil and political society organisations working on democracy assistance, EPD advocates for a stronger presence of democracy support on the European Union’s agenda and facilitates the exchange of knowledge and best practices in democratic transformations around the world.
EPD is the first Community of Practice on democracy assistance operating at the EU level. As such, its added value lies in its capacity to bring together and to connect the work of organisations within various policy areas, in a way that enhances the effectiveness and the quality of the programming and implementation cycles of democracy support at the EU level.
EPD is currently looking for two recent graduates or young professionals to start an internship at the beginning of September 2015. One of the two available positions will focus on project development and management. The other position will focus on communications, policy analysis and events. However, both interns will have the opportunity to get involved in the whole range of activities undertaken by the EPD Secretariat.  
Duties and responsibilities of the programmes intern:
Providing assistance on programme management through the monitoring of projects, with a focus on financial reporting;
Liaising with project partners in target countries and other stakeholders;
Updating the EPD funding review on a weekly basis;
Providing assistance in writing project proposals;
Assisting with background research (such as analyses of democracy assistance);

Minerva EU - Japan Fellowship

The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation has up to five positions for fellows. The fellowship scheme in Japan is designed to support the Centre's research and policy analysis of EU-Japan economic and industrial issues.
The Research Fellow will undertake research work on a selected priority topic of the Centre, which should result in a consistent policy report (50 pages).
Apart from research on a pre-determined topic, the Research Fellow will be expected to support the daily analytical activities of the Centre, including media monitoring, policy briefings, seminar reports, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
EU+ (*) or Japanese citizenship, university degree, strong interest and motivation in Japan and EU-Japan relations.
The following elements will constitute an advantage: previous professional experience with Japan, an already advanced study/research on one of the priority topics, Japanese language abilities.
(*) EU+ includes: EU, Montenegro, Turkey, FYROM, Iceland, Moldova.
PRACTICAL
The fellow is paid 1700 EUR/month (paid in JPY).
The grant is expected to cover basic daily expenses and accommodation in Tokyo. A Research Fellow selected from outside Japan, will receive an additional travel subsidy of up to 1000 EUR.

Research Unit Intern

Role:
The International Crisis Group is seeking an intern to volunteer for six months with the Brussels Research Unit, starting in September or October 2015. The internship would suit a candidate with a recent degree in international relations, conflict studies, political science or similar.

GOGLA is seeking a motivated intern holding at least a Bachelor degree related to international development and communication to support the GOGLA Office. The Office serves the role of facilitator, coordinator, representative and fundraiser of the association.
You will work in an international and dynamic environment. The tasks will include supporting the organization of the 4th international off-grid lighting conference and exhibition, taking place October 26-29 in Dubai. The event will attract more than 600 delegates and around 80 exhibitors from all around the world. Media/Communications Intern at the European Council on Refugees and Exiles

Description
The European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) is a pan-European alliance of 87 NGOs protecting and advancing the rights of refugees, asylum seekers and displaced persons. Their  mission is to promote the establishment of fair and humane European asylum policies and practices in accordance with international human rights law. Working together with their members and partners to inform and persuade European authorities and the public, they monitor and denounce human rights violations while proposing and promoting fair and effective durable solutions. They accomplish their mission through research, advocacy and the sharing of knowledge and expertise. The purpose of this Intern position is primarily to provide essential support to the Media and Communications Team which consists of aHead of Communications, Membership Officer and Web Editor & Graphic Designer.
 Responsibilities:
Research and write articles and conduct interviews for the ECRE Weekly Bulletin and ECRE Website;
Monitor and evaluate press coverage (i.e. produce an annual press coverage report and a daily press review for distribution among the ECRE membership);
Work with the Media & Communication team in developing ECRE’s social media presence;
Support the Media & Communications team in maintaining and developing the ECRE website;
Substantially contribute to the drafting of materials for the press, including press releases, background information for journalists, answers to media enquiries and other communications materials;
Undertake research on EU and national policies on asylum within tight deadlines;
Monitor relevant EU legislation and events in the asylum area;
Assist in the organisation of press conferences and Membership-related events or meetings;
Manage the media and ECRE members contacts database;
Assist with co-ordinating and developing the ECRE Media Officers Network;
Maintain a picture and video database;
Deal with general information requests;
Assist with miscellaneous tasks and projects as agreed with the Head of Communications.
Eligibility
Education and experience:
University degree in a relevant area;
Knowledge of EU asylum issues;
Familiarity with social media tools;
Basic knowledge of HTML and experience with web-design is an advantage;
Familiarity with the EU legislative process;
Ability to present data and complex legal issues in a comprehensible and media friendly language.
Languages:
Fluent written and spoken English is essential;
Good knowledge of written and spoken French and / or German an advantage;
Working knowledge of other European languages is an advantage.
Abilities:
Good communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to meet short deadlines and work under pressure;
Ability to multi-task and prioritize between competing tasks;

Remuneration
This internship is paid for 11 months  EUR 751,00 (before tax) as well as Belgian Contract – “Contrat belge d’immersion professionelle”.
The Media Intern will be entitled to 26 days annual leave if he or she has worked for the entire previous year in Belgium. If service during the previous year in Belgium is less than the full year, annual leave will be calculated pro rata. Regardless of the legal entitlement to annual leave in Belgium, ECRE will provide 6 days of extra-legal holidays per year.
