Scholarships for Countries in Crises at the University of Bradford , UK

Description

The University of Bradford, UK is offering a new scholarship scheme for 2012/2012. These scholarships are to aid students in financial hardship due to the fact that they are domiciled in a country that is in crisis as a result of the political situation, war, natural disaster etc. Students must be on a full-time Master’s programme (not MBA) and be self-funded. Students must be studying based at the University of Bradford i.e. distance learning students are not eligible to apply.

Scholarship

Full tuition fees and accommodation in The Green will be covered plus £2000 per annum living costs to be paid in October. Each scholarship is worth approximately £20,000.

Eligibility

Students from the following list of countries are invited to apply for these scholarships:Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Colombia, Congo, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Korea, Democratic People’s Republic of, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mauritania, Mozambique,Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Occupied Palestinian Territory, Pakistan, Russia (North Caucasus), Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Swaziland, Syrian Arab Republic, Tanzania, United Republic of Timor-Leste, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe. However in extreme circumstances applications from students from other countries will be considered by the panel.

Application

Application tips from the Scholarship panel:
  • Explain how the situation in your country has affected you personally. Don’t just describe the situation in your country.
  • Do not send a CV but include any evidence you have to support your personal statement, since it may be recquired from you at a later date if your application is short listed.
  • Don’t focus on your academic qualifications unless it is relevant to your application.
  • The Scholarship is for a substantial amount of funding so it is expected to see students giving time and consideration to their application and using detailed information about their situation.

All parts of the form must be completed – if you don’t then your application will not be considered.
Please do not apply for this scholarship until you’ve been offered a place to study at the University of Bradford.

The application deadline is Monday 11 June, 2012. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered.
