2013-14 International Student Scholarship at University of Hawai’i at Hilo in USA

University of Hawai’i at Hilo offers international student scholarship for classified full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students. The amount of the scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year is $2,000 per semester. Citizens of a country other than the United States are eligible. 
About Scholarship: The International Student Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate international students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and have some degree of financial need. The amount of the scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year will be $2,000 per semester.
The University of Hawai’i at Hilo wants to support international students and strongly encourages students who meet the qualifications to apply. Applicants should have limit of 4 years (or 8 semesters) to receive this scholarship.
Students who receive the scholarship will have the amount of the scholarship posted to their MyUH account 10 days before classes begin; tuition and fee balance will be reduced by the amount of the scholarship. Students who receive the Scholarship in the fall semester do not need to apply again in the spring semester. The Scholarship will be renewed from fall to spring as long as the student maintains at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. 
Study: The scholarship is provided to learn any of the courses offered by the university.

Eligibility: Students who meet all of the following qualifications may apply:
1. Will enroll at UH Hilo in Fall 2013.
2. Classified full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student. Students on exchange who do not intend to earn a degree from UH Hilo are not eligible. Priority is given to students pursuing a first bachelor’s degree.
3. Completion of at least 12 graded credits at UH Hilo or another college or university in the United States at the time of application. ESL non-credit courses and courses for which you elect the CR/NC option do not count toward the total number of credits.
4. Citizen of a country other than the United States.
5. Maintaining F-1 Student immigration status.
6. Academic merit as demonstrated by a grade point average of at least 3.0 at UH Hilo. Transfer courses are not included in the GPA calculation for this scholarship, except for students who will be transferring or have transferred to UH Hilo from another UH campus.
7. Some degree of financial need (as explained in your application).
8. Limit of 4 years (or 8 semesters) to receive this scholarship.
9. Willingness to volunteer for at least one international program per semester.

Value: The amount of the scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year will be $2,000 per semester. 
Selection Criteria: Outstanding academic performance and some degree of financial need.
Notification: Applicants will be notified if they will be awarded this scholarship in April.
