The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is
currently looking for an Intern for its Policy and Mediation Support Unit
in Geneva
The Mediation Support and Policy Unit (MESU) tracks progress
of HD’s projects and provides advice and expertise as necessary to support the
organisation’s mediation work. The team also supports HD’s operations by
conducting research to advance the debate on approaches to mediation processes.
It supports production of publications and training materials addressing the
challenges mediators face in their work and offering options for overcoming
those challenges.
The successful candidate will work for a period of six
months, in close collaboration with the MESU team, on a number of internal and
external projects.
Her/his responsibilities will include:
Assist with HD project reviews and evaluations;
Support the team in compiling, updating and analysing
project results and lessons reported from the field offices;
Draft high-quality input for project funding proposals;
Research issues related to the mediation and peacemaking
fields;
Assist the MESU team in the support it provides to HD’s
operations, including research and maintenance of expert rosters;
Support the organisation of HD seminars and workshops,
including assisting with logistics and administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
Be enrolled in a graduate programme in political science,
international law or relations;
Have excellent oral and written English; a publishing record
would be an asset;
Possess strong writing and analytical skills;
Possess sound research and organisational skills;
Be self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work
autonomously;
Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Prior internship experience would be an asset;
Knowledge of French and any additional language would be an
advantage.
For practical reasons, applicants should hold a valid
work/student permit for Switzerland or be a Swiss or EU citizen.
