Political, Press & Information Trainee

The EU Delegation to Myanmar is offering an internship opportunity in the Political, Press and Information Section for motivated and well-qualified graduates seeking to learn more about the European Union and its relations with Myanmar. This is an exciting opportunity that comes at an important time in EU-Myanmar relations. 
The Delegation is looking for candidates who can join for a period of six months, starting early September 2015.
The key tasks of the trainee will include: 
Assisting with the preparation of regular political analyses and reports on Myanmar, including coverage of key domestic issues such as the human rights situation in the country, peace process and upcoming elections, as well as regional issues related to ASEAN.
Assisting with the preparation of ad hoc reports, briefing notes or background analyses on specific occasions, such as high-ranking official visits, Head of Delegation missions, political negotiations or conferences, etc.
Assisting with delegation press and communication activities, including compiling a daily press review, drafting press releases and upkeep of the delegation's online media presence.
Assisting with the day-to-day administration activities of the section.
Person specification:
Applicants should be recent graduates with a strong background in a relevant field such as European Studies, International Relations, Politics and Government, etc.
Previous experience with Myanmar/Asia is desirable but not required. Previous experience in communications is also highly desirable.
Successful candidates will have outstanding analytical, communication and drafting skills and excellent written and spoken English.
Candidates must be citizens of the European Union
The position is unpaid and trainees are responsible for all costs (travel, accommodation, etc.) incurred during the internship. Successful applicants are also required to have adequate travel and health insurance.
