Background Information
The internship will be located in the Cities Alliance
Secretariat office in Brussels, Belgium. The selected candidate will work
within the Director Unit across selected activities of the Unit, under the
supervision of the Communications Officer.
This internship with the Cities Alliance team within UNOPS
GPSO offers the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to web design,
communication, knowledge and advocacy. In addition, the intern will be exposed
to the latest developments in the field of urban development and to a variety
of concrete projects and practises.
Tasks:
Support to Communication, Knowledge and Advocacy and Web
Content
Website Support
• Collect, create and update web content, including layout
and multimedia features
Production: Corporate Materials
• Assist in procurement, designing, editing, formatting and
updating of Cities Alliance corporate publications
Knowledge Product Development
• Assist in designing and formatting a short draft paper,
literature review, article or another similar output, on a subject related to
the work of the Cities Alliance
• Follow-up and collect material for knowledge products from Cities Alliance teams
• Follow-up and collect material for knowledge products from Cities Alliance teams
Advocacy
• Design outreach and social media tools (Facebook, Twitter,
Flickr, Wikipedia and other social mediums etc.)

which may be revised in view of emerging exercises or necessary tasks.

Education
Education
• All applicants must be enrolled in a Bachelor, Master’s
Degree or Ph. D. (or equivalent); or have graduated from such studies within
three (3) years prior to the application date of the internship
• Area of study and interest should be preferably one of the
following: communication, web content, graphic design, development studies or a
related field
Experience
• Previous experience in creating web content and other
multimedia communication products is highly desirable
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and
PowerPoint is required and candidates must provide samples of their work
• Experience in using content management system and
knowledge on Drupal CMS and HTML will be considered as an advantage
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools is a requirement
(Microsoft, Word, PowerPoint and Publisher)
Languages
• Fluency in English
• Knowledge of other UN languages will be considered as
advantage

Interns are responsible for all costs associated with the
internship, including but not limited to costs for insurance coverage, travel
and accommodation. Interns are responsible for arranging their own travel and
securing any necessary visas.
Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend.
This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position
with UNOPS. There should be no expectation of employment at the end of the
internship.
