AZ-Amsterdam Science Scholarship for International Students in Netherlands, 2013

The University of Amsterdam offers Science Scholarship for International Students in Netherlands. Scholarships are available in the field of the Green Life Sciences and Gravitation Astroparticle Physics for undergraduate students. The Amsterdam Science Scholarship programme is open to excellent foreign students from all countries of the world. 
About Scholarship: The Amsterdam Science Scholarships programme is open to excellent foreign students from all countries of the world. It is aimed at talented undergraduate students in the domains Green Life Sciences and Gravitation Astroparticle Physics, two priority areas of the Faculty of Science.

Location: Netherlands 
Eligibility: The Amsterdam Science Scholarship is open to students:
-Who have enrolled/enroll in one of the following programmes:
- The track GRAPPA from the Master’s programme Astronomy & Astrophysics and  Physics
- The track ‘Green Life Sciences’ from the Master’s programme Biological Sciences.
These two programmes correspond with two research priority areas of the Faculty.
-Who have completed, or are in the process of completing, the appropriate Bachelor’s programme and have a grade average corresponding to the top 10% of the students.
-Who are expected to have an overall grade point average (GPA) equivalent to at least:
-  3.5 (GPA American system)
-  1 (a 1st class honours / upper division British system)
-  8+ (Dutch EC-system) 
-Who are able to comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa (if applicable)
-Who are expected to meet the English language requirements of the Faculty of Science 
Scholarship Open for: International students can apply
Duration: The scholarship is granted for the two-year programme that starts in September of a certain year and cannot be transferred to another academic year.
Value: -For students from the EER, the maximum is € 15.000,- per year, for the duration of the two-year programme.
-For students outside the EER the maximum is € 25.000,- per year, for the duration of the two-year programme.
Note that the scholarship cannot be used as a (partial) tuition fee waiver; applicants should pay the full amount of tuition (EER € 1.800, per year, non-EER €12,000, for the academic year 2013-2014). 
Notification: Scholarship for International Students will be notified as soon as the selection is known.
Apply: The mode of applying is by post. Students can apply for a scholarship by supplying the following by mail to the programme director.
-a statement of motivation, 1 page A4 maximum, stating the reasons for attending the programme
-at least two letters of reference from academic staff members
-copies of written work such as a selection of term papers, copies of scientific publications and a copy of the bachelor thesis if available
-curriculum vitae
-any other material that will strengthen the application: copies of prizes/awards obtained, a description of relevant work experience, etc.
-up-to-date translated and certified transcripts
The Programme Director will make a first selection and can recommend a candidate for a scholarship to the Science Scholarship Committee. An assessment will be made by the Science Scholarship Committee considering the presented information.
