Eurodesk is the main source of information on
European policies and opportunities for young people and has a network
of national coordinators connected to over 1300 local information
providers and partners in 33 European countries. Eurodesk Brussels Link
(EBL) coordinates the activities of national partners, who operate as a
permanent support structure for the EU’s Youth in Action programme. The
network also updates and manages content on the European Youth Portal.
EBL is recruiting a trainee for a period of 5 months to support our research and information dissemination work.
Tasks
We offer an exciting learning experience in an international team in Brussels. An agreement will be made according to the Belgian Convention d’immersion professionelle contract, including the payment of a monthly compensation and coverage of public transport travel costs. The traineeship is on a full time basis in line with the regular working hours of Eurodesk Brussels Link (38h/week).

- Researching and updating European information for young people and those working with them, including multi-media content;
- Supporting the editing of content for the European Youth Portal;
- Identifying and drafting news items for the Eurodesk Network;
- Supporting in network activities and European level meetings;
- Providing basic technical assistance when needed;
- Other duties as directed by the Director of the EBL office.
- An academic background in politics, social science, journalism, communication, law or equivalent is requested;
- Interest in youth policy and youth related issues;
- A basic knowledge of the European institutions;
- Fluency in English with very good drafting and editing skills;
- Thorough research skills and ability to analyse and summarise information;
- Interpersonal and intercultural competences and ability to work in a team;
- Ability to pursue tasks independently and with energy and drive;
- Solid computer skills are essential, experience with content management systems and knowledge of photo/graphic design software are an asset;
- Available for five months, full-time, starting on 15 July, the latest;
- Have a valid work permit for Belgium;
- Previous experience of working in NGOs, volunteering activities and/or participation in (international) youth activities are desirable;
- First experiences in communication, journalism and/or research are an asset.
