It rests on three pillars: Environment, Charity and Education. As part of the educational pillar, Erasmus in Schools is this year’s flagship project of ESN.
Positions:

Tasks

  • Coordinate the project on the international level according to the strategy of SE and under the supervision of the International Board

The researcher is expected to take the lead in developing and raising funding to strengthen CMI's research portfolio within the anti-corruption/governance field. The successful candidate will pursue a research agenda with linkages to the objectives of the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre, which aims at informing and improving policy and practice regarding corruption, anti-corruption and development in donor agencies and

the broader development community. Along with developing her or his own research projects, the researcher will be expected to contribute directly to the U4 project. 

Qualifications:

*    PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g., political science, international relations, economics, law, anthropology, public policy)

Job Call for Freelance Project Assistant

We are now looking for a Project Assistant for a one year freelance contract. Your duties will be coordinating the organization of the “Flag it!” project, organized by EYP under the framework of the Youth in Action Programme, which will be held in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia throughout 2013.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • monitoring EYP - “Flag it” partners relations;
  • support the project coordinator in overseeing the project
  • take care of logistical needs for seminars and meetings foreseen by the project;
  • supporting the visibility of the project by collecting audio-video materials produced and spread them among partners, participants and web users through social networks and websites;
  • assisting with the update of the organisation’s website;
  • supporting EYP team in the evaluation of the project.

You will be required to have the following skills and qualities:

  • proven experience in being involved or managing European and international (youth) projects;
  • be able to work with people of different cultural backgrounds
  • budget management skills;
  • to be fluent in English, able to communicate professionally and to write reports;
  • to be well-organised, self-motivated and reliable;
  • to be able to work as a freelancer or contractor with a tax number
  • computer skills (Microsoft Office, social media, are required.

48 young people from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America will learn how to use technology and social media in order to report about environmental issues. Four different seminars with 12 participants each will be organised in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia

Description

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland, is searching for a media officer to hire for an initial period of two years, renewable, subject to satisfactory performance. WIPO is a specialized agency of the United Nations. Under the supervision of the Head of the Section and the general supervision of the Director of the Communications Division, the candidate will have in particular, the following duties:
Main duties:
  • draft, research and/or edit press releases, Q & As, talking points, presentations and background briefs, articles and film scripts on diverse intellectual property topics for publication in various outlets (e.g.: business and academic journals, forewords, brochures and exhibition catalogues, etc.) to enhance understanding of intellectual property and WIPO;
  • research and draft opinion pieces and secure placement in major media outlets; similarly, create and disseminate content through the WIPO website and appropriate social media;

Eligibility

Education: University degree in communications, journalism, social sciences or a related subject.
Experience: At least six years of relevant professional experience in journalism, media relations, or public affairs, a broad understanding of intellectual property would be an advantage, and practical experience of using social media to support strategic communications objectives.
Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent drafting skills in English.
  • Ability to present complex issues in succinct and accessible language. Ability to tailor expression and messages for different audiences and media.

Call for International Human Rights Education Project Coordinator, Amnesty International

Amnesty International’s Human Rights Education Team at the International Secretariat in London is seeking an Education for Human Dignity Project Coordinator. The role is a fixed term contract starting immediately to 31 May 2013 and is based in London, UK.
The Education for Human Dignity Project is in the final stages of its three-year international partnership funded by EuropeAid, aimed at raising awareness, informing debate and enabling action in order to tackle human rights abuses that drive and deepen poverty. Through human rights education and participatory approaches, young people and those that work with them (including teachers, youth workers and multipliers) have an increased understanding of the relationship between poverty and human rights, and are equipped and empowered to take action and call for human rights solutions to poverty.

Job description

A successful Project Coordinator will have planned, coordinated, implemented, evaluated and reported on all parts of the Education for Human Dignity Project to ensure achievement of the project goals and objectives. This includes the coordination of the development and production of support tools and resources (including multimedia resources) for use by project partners, and the provision of effective support and advice to project partners in the implementation of projects at the national level.
S/he will have contributed to the effective functioning of the project team, and enhanced its contributions to the overall project goals, AI mission, the mandate of the Human Rights Education Team, and the development of human rights education policies while upholding AI’s values at all times.
Specified tasks:
  • Lead on the final phase of the project and ensure adequate evaluation and reporting, in particular: oversee the external evaluation and ensure that learning is appropriately captured and disseminated, draw up final narrative and financial reports for external donors, and ensure that all project records are in order in preparation for an external audit.
  • Problem analysis, budget management, evaluation and reporting to relevant bodies within and outside the Amnesty International movement to ensure that the project is effectively managed within the context of the International Human Rights Education Strategy and the parameters of the external donor.
  • Offer all participating Amnesty International sections and structures and project partners on-going support and advice to plan, develop, implement and monitor human rights education activities under this project at the national level and ensure they have the necessary information and training to use the support resources and tools.
  • Support the operational framework of the project and coordinate activities
  • Coordinate the identification and analysis of lessons learned from the project through a utilization-based evaluation.  Reproduce lessons learnt and facilitate a shared learning process in order to ensure effective implementation of the project.
  • Coordinate the overall operations, outputs and outcomes of the Education for Human Dignity project team, ensuring smooth, efficient and effective operations and high quality outputs from the project team.
  • Other tasks as assigned within the responsibility, scope and nature of the post in order to ensure the effective implementation, evaluation, final reporting and transition of the Education for Human Dignity Project.

Eligibility

Required skills and experience:
  • Proven experience in human rights education project management, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  •  Demonstrated experience managing externally-funded projects (ideally by EuropeAid), with proven skills in reporting to external donors and partners, financial management, problem identification, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects related to human rights, human rights education or other education for social change, including experience in designing, planning and implementing evaluative projects, and drafting project proposals.
  • Proven understanding of human rights education methodology and practical experience in using such methodology to deliver human rights education projects.
  • Experience in drafting substantial external and internal reports and briefings, including reports based on results based management and theory of change frameworks.
  •  Experience in monitoring and overseeing large complex multi-currency budgets and taking strategic decisions on most cost-effective solutions, taking into consideration funders’ requirements.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate on behalf of and represent Amnesty International in different fora, tailoring style and content of material for different purposes and people of different cultures.
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact in dealing with and building relationships with key stakeholders (both internal and external) at all levels.
  • Ability to build support for and represent the project within the movement and liaise with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to schedule and plan work by setting clear goals, experience of working to deadlines and adjusting priorities according to needs.
  • Ability to coordinate and motivate individual members of a team including volunteers, and generate and maintain team spirit.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex global and regional situations and exercise good political judgment.

The European Journalism Centre is looking for a talented and creative Web Editor to manage the day-to-day content of our network of websites.
Who You Are:
The ideal candidate must:
  • have a university degree in journalism (or equivalent)
  • be a native English speaker (or a certified fluent speaker)
  • be able to work under pressure and independently
  • have experience in writing for the Web (min. 5 years)
  • have proven reporting skills (e.g. events, press conferences)
  • have magazine or newspaper editing experience (min. 3 years)
You must be able to independently produce content for the Web, i.e. you know HTML and have enough PhotoShop skills that you don’t need to ask anyone for help when it’s time to crop or resize a picture. Ideally, you have hands-on experience with a CMS (ExpressionEngine, WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, or other proprietary systems).
Moreover, you should have good insight into strategies on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn and be aware that there’s more to it then just sharing funny pictures.
You shouldn’t need to use Google to figure out what SEO means; you already know how to implement this in your writings. You have strong language editing skills and an eye for detail.
Finally, you are a “people person” who can coach colleagues who are less media literate than you are. You should be able to sell your vision internally and bring the team along with you.

Le prove di esame, cui saranno ammessi non più di 40 (quaranta) candidati prescelti dalla Commissione Tecnica sulla base di criteri matematici (voto di laurea, età, ecc.)  e debitamente informati, si svolgeranno in un'unica giornata, il  1/03/2013 alle ore 9 presso la sede del Gruppo Espresso in Via C. Colombo n.90 in Roma e consisteranno in due prove scritte a scelta sulle tre di seguito indicate:

1)    un articolo non superiore a 50 righe dattiloscritte ovvero un testo che non superi le 18  -  22 righe dattiloscritte equivalenti a circa 1'30"  -  2'00, da leggersi in un giornale radio o un telegiornale, su un argomento di attualità del quale verrà data notizia ai candidati mediante comunicati di agenzia di stampa;
2)   prova di sintesi di un lungo articolo in un massimo di 15 righe dattiloscritte;
3)  prova di attualità e di informazione articolata in domande cui il candidato sarà tenuto a   rispondere per iscritto;

1) prova scritta su un tema di carattere editoriale. In tale prova saranno fornite al candidato  informazioni sia quantitative sia qualitative sull'argomento da sviluppare (case history). Il candidato dovrà, sulla base delle informazioni ricevute, argomentare sulla validità di un progetto editoriale e sulla sua fattibilità in termini di mercato in un massimo di quattro cartelle dattiloscritte od equivalente;
2) prova su un tema di gestione aziendale. In tale prova saranno fornite al candidato informazioni sia quantitative sia qualitative sull'argomento da sviluppare. Il candidato dovrà, sulla scorta delle informazioni ricevute, evidenziare gli aspetti salienti della tematica proposta ed indicare i fattori rilevanti in gioco, sotto il profilo economico e finanziario, valutando, indicativamente, gli elementi peculiari da tenere sotto controllo nella gestione dell'iniziativa;
3) prova di carattere generale. In tale prova il candidato dovrà, in forma scritta, rispondere ad una serie di domande brevi inerenti il settore editoriale (periodici e quotidiani).

Mission


The community coordinator will have a role in managing shecco’s business-to-business online platforms (cars21.com, R744.com, hydrocarbons21.com, ammonia21.com). In this role he/she will be supporting the team in maintaining the high quality of content and functionality on a daily basis by sending network updates and newsletters, adding content to the platforms, and analysing the development of shecco’s diverse business and campaigning websites.


A key part of his/her activities will focus on web community management, directly interacting with a global online community of more than 10,000 experts from industry, science and policy. The successful candidate will engage in technology and policy discussions, react to daily comments and requests and create new interactive features for newly launched global networking tools.


A third key area will evolve around the field of e-marketing, where he/she would engage with online media and news sources, spread written and audio-visual content through Social Media tools, and promote the activities of shecco’s online platforms towards existing and prospective partners and customers.


The position is a mixture of administrative, communicative, creative and technical tasks, requiring a personality with a flexible and positive mindset, and a strong interest in Web 2.0 technology, online communication, and marketing in the field of environmental technology.

Profile
  • Experience with new web technologies / Social Media (twitter, social bookmarking, sharing platforms, blogs, wikis, podcasting, audio/video content…), e-marketing, community management
  • Strong interest in environmental technology (natural refrigerants, electric vehicles)
  • Very good communicator, both written and oral
  • Capable of initiating discussions and maintaining dialogue among different communities
  • Able to liaise with market players across multicultural environments and culturally sensitive

Description

Rising Voices, an outreach initiative of Global Voices, aims to help bring new voices from new communities and speaking new languages to the global conversation by providing resources and funding to local groups reaching out to underrepresented communities. Global Voices is seeking a Rising Voices Editor to produce and manage its online content flow related to citizen media development and outreach in global underrepresented communities. This content highlights innovative people, initiatives, and tools that are contributing towards promoting greater participation in the global digital space, especially through knowledge and skills sharing.
The editor will work with our growing community of volunteer authors to expand this content to be more representative of more regions and languages. Through the writing of regular blog posts and managing other online Rising Voices content, s/he will be instrumental in articulating the need for a greater diversity of voices and the work taking place to approach this ongoing goal.
The Rising Voices Editor will be responsible for the following:
  • Daily writing and editing of online content on the Rising Voices website
  • Recruiting, supporting and editing Rising Voices volunteer authors to produce online content related to RV’s mission
  • Working with RV partner organizations to promote RV content through mass media, social media, and other public forums
  • Coordinating with the broader GV community, including working with GV Managing, Deputy, Regional, and Lingua Editors to ensure content is posted and translated as needed
  • Assisting with the management of RV’s social media accounts, mailing list, and Delicious account.
  • Assisting with the management of a centralized compendium of guides, tutorials, and resources related to citizen media development and outreach, and writing and updating RV guides and tutorials as needed. Coordinate translation of guides into target languages

Eligibility

Rising Voices seeks a candidate with the following qualities:
  • Deep experience in citizen media development, training, and mentoring
  • Professional editing and writing in English
  • Strong familiarity with digital media technology, blogging, social media, and tools used to bring new voices into the global conversation
  • Ability to support and manage distributed, virtual communities
  • Initiative to engage in outreach and research to identify new topics to feature
  • Familiarity with open source software and open content communities
  • Ability to work independently and to produce results in a timely manner
To work effectively with our community, Rising Voices would prefer that candidates:
  • Have experience living and working internationally, or have traveled extensively in the developing world
  • Are active bloggers or creators of online media
  • Are multilingual, with fluency in English and at least one other language
  • Have experience working in diverse, multicultural environments
  • Are strong communicators and facilitators
  • Are able to work independently, in a virtual environment
The Rising Voices Editor will report to the Rising Voices Director.
The ideal candidate must have a passionate commitment to the values and goals of Global Voices. S/he will be joining a well established core team who are dedicated to amplifying the voices of world. There is no geographic requirement associated with this position; Global Voices has no office or physical headquarters. Candidates must have access to broadband internet connectivity and be comfortable working in a wholly virtual environment. Rising Voices strongly welcomes candidates from outside North America and Western Europe, and encourages people currently working on the Global Voices project to apply.
The position is part-time, but should be treated as a freelance contract.

  • Relevant academic background (MA/MSc) in social, cultural, political sciences and fields related to Peacebuilding and Conflict transformation theory and practice and International Development.
  • Profound knowledge of the role of youth in peacebuilding.

experience

  • Experience in programme and project management, including planning, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Proven working experience in coordinating youth programs, organisations or networks (proposal development, implementation of projects, fundraising, reporting etc).
  • Relevant  experience in NGO settings.
  • Experience in giving trainings, preferably using non-formal education methods.

Purpose of the position

  • Implement and monitor, jointly with the International Secretariat and Outreach Coordinator, the UNOY Peacebuilders 2011 – 2015 strategic framework.

Position in the organisation

  • The ‘International Network & Programme Coordinator’ (INPC) makes up the Management Team together with the ‘International Secretariat and Outreach Coordinator’ (ISOC). The two coordinators will share the leadership over the organisation.
  • The Management Team is accountable to the Board, through a quarterly reporting process.
  • The Management Team may solicit advice and support from the International Steering Group and the Board
  • The INPC has direct supervision of a number of interns working at the office on respective projects and ensures the monitoring and appraisal of their development and performance. Additionally the INPC coordinates the project leaders hired on freelance basis to implement projects and monitors their outputs.

Result areas

unoy network development:
  • Further develop the network, enabling active participation of member organisations towards realizing the Strategic Plan 2011-2015 of UNOY Peacebuilders. Monitor and evaluate the network developments.
  • Ensure effective cooperation and communication between members of UNOY Peacebuilders, and the International Steering Group.
  • Coordinate the yearly meeting of the International Steering Group members. Ensure member organisations are represented in the International Steering Group and support the coordination of the work of the International Steering Group.
  • Coordinate administration of member organisations participation in the network, membership calls etc.
advocacy programme:
  • Develop and implement, an advocacy strategy based on the Strategic Plans 2011 – 2015 of UNOY Peacebuilders with the International Steering Group and ensuring support from member organisations.
  • Ensure the voice of member organisations of UNOY Peacebuilders is heard at relevant events and advocacy opportunities.
  • Coordinate the build up of the capacity of member organisation to represent the network and its core messages.
fundraising:
  • Fundraise for projects from local, European and international donors (with support from the ISOC).
programme development:
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation of capacity building programmes for the member organisations aimed to realise the Strategic Plan 2011-2015 of UNOY Peacebuilders. Present focus includes Gender mainstreaming, Advocacy and Conflict analyses & peaceful interventions.
  • Coordinate hiring of project leaders (freelance) for the implementation of projects and monitor their output.

  • Undertake necessary administrative duties for the effective implementation of the work of UNOY Peacebuilders.
  • Supervise and train, on occasion and together with other staff members, the interns of UNOY, i.e. the interns allocated to the projects described above.
