CMI is home to the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre (U4), the leading resource centre assisting development agencies and practitioners to more effectively address corruption challenges. Chr. Michelsen Institute seeks an anti-corruption/governance researcher to contribute to a programme of policy-oriented, operationally-relevant research.
The researcher is expected to take the lead in developing and raising funding to strengthen CMI's research portfolio within the anti-corruption/governance field. The successful candidate will pursue a research agenda with linkages to the objectives of the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre, which aims at informing and improving policy and practice regarding corruption, anti-corruption and development in donor agencies and
the broader development community. Along with developing her or his own research projects, the researcher will be expected to contribute directly to the U4 project.
Qualifications:
* PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g., political science, international relations, economics, law, anthropology, public policy)
* A record of operationally-relevant research, writing and publication in the field of anti-corruption and development
* Proven ability to attract funding for research and other commissioned analysis
* Fluency in English, including excellent writing skills
* Experience in development aid programming an advantage
* Experience in project oversight and budget management an advantage
* Proficiency in French, Arabic, Portuguese or Spanish an advantage
Personal qualities:
* Desire to influence development policy and practice and to engage with development practitioners 'in the field'
* Self-starting, creative, hard working and flexible
* Ability to work well in teams and independently
Positions will be at mid- or senior level, based on the experience or qualifications of the successful candidate.
